Lagares got his first in-game action Friday after suffering a sprained shoulder back in December.
EDGE Analysis
Lagares was expected to be ready for spring training, and his participation in the Mets' Grape League opener Friday would seem to indicate that there have been no setbacks. The 27-year-old led off the game by walking in his first at-bat before eventually coming around to score. This spring, he'll be hoping to solidify a backup role in New York's outfield.

Lagares sprained his shoulder in his Dominican winter league game and is expected to be ready for spring training, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It appears Lagares and the Mets dodged a bullet, but the oft-injured outfielder's shoulder should still be something to be aware of as spring training rolls around. He will be competing for time in center field with Curtis Granderson.

Lagares left a Dominican winter league game Saturday after he injured his right shoulder while making a diving catch, but X-rays came back negative, Adam Rubin of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The injury-prone outfielder continues to live up to his unfortunate reputation, and although it seems like he dodged any major injuries at the moment, he still will head to New York to be evaluated by team doctors. The 27-year-old is currently penciled in to be one of the main options in center field along with Curtis Granderson, but Lagares' status for the start of spring training could be up in the air depending on what the ailment ultimately turns out to be. Nevertheless, his status moving forward should become clearer once he is examined in New York.

Lagares (thumb) will be activated from the DL on Friday, ESPN's Adam Rubin reports.
EDGE Analysis
He underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left hand back in late July. Manager Terry Collins wants Lagares back as a defensive replacement even if he's not quite ready to contribute at the plate. With that in mind, and considering the collection of better offensive options at the Mets' disposal, owners should not expect Lagares to see many at-bats in the near future.

Lagares, who had surgery to repair a partially torn thumb ligament at the end of July, has been cleared to swing a bat and could return shortly as a defensive replacement and pinch-runner, ESPN New York.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets are taking it slow with Lagares at the plate due to the surgery, which was to sideline him six weeks. But feel he could serve a solid, late-inning defensive replacement in center field and pinch runner. It may take Lagares several weeks to be ready at the plate but he might be activated to be a bench player shortly.

Lagares will have surgery to repair a partially torn thumb ligament, sidelining him about six weeks, James Wagner of the NY Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lagares could be back by mid-to-late September if all goes according to form. Michael Conforto will start in center field, backed up by Alejandro De Aza and possibly Brandon Nimmo, though the Mets are looking for a backup, right-handed hitter for that position.

Lagares is likely headed for the DL and surgery to repair a partially torn thumb ligament, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brandon Nimmo is on his way back from Triple-A Las Vegas and is expected to take Lagares' spot on the roster. Lagares already missed a month due to the thumb injury, which he suffered trying to make a diving catch back on June 4, and it has continued to nag him since his return earlier in July. A timetable for his recovery from surgery is uncertain but it's the type of procedure that could very well knock Lagares out for the remainder of the season.

Lagares went 1-for-2 with a solo homer, two walks and two runs in Friday's 5-3 victory over the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old opened the scoring with his third-inning solo shot off Jeremy Hellickson, his first since May 28 versus the Dodgers. Lagares has now hit safely in two straight after going hitless over the prior four games in which he'd registered an at-bat.

Lagares is out of the lineup Monday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Lagares led off for the Mets on Sunday following his Saturday activation, but he'll take a seat Monday for the team's second consecutive afternoon contest. In his stead, manager Terry Collins will start an outfield composed of Brandon Nimmo (left), Yoenis Cespedes (center) and Curtis Granderson (right). Lagares wasn't necessarily an everyday player before landing on the DL, and with outfield options such as Nimmo and Kelly Johnson available, he will likely continue to see semi-regular playing time.

Lagares (thumb) was activated from the 15-day DL on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
He will not immediately slot into the lineup -- manager Terry Collins will go with an outfield consisting of Brandon Nimmo, Yoenis Cespedes and Alejandro De Aza -- but Lagares should be available off the bench Saturday. Defense is Lagares' calling card and should afford him a few starts per week moving forward, but Lagares was also holding his own at the dish before the injury. He's hit .289/.326/.433 in 48 games this season, albeit with just two homers and one stolen base.
