Edgin is dealing with an overstretched ligament in his elbow that is causing tendonitis, Mike Vorkunov of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Edgin seems all but certain to begin the season on the disabled list, but the real question appears to be whether he will undergo Tommy John surgery, or stick to a rest and rehab approach. If he's able to avoid surgery, he'll attempt to throw again in roughly 2-to-3 weeks.

Edgin may just need rest and rehab on his elbow/arm, though that has to be officially confirmed, ESPN New York reports.
Edgin's velocity has been down this spring, prompting his receiving an MRI and getting examined by Dr. David Altchek, the Mets' physician. Surgery is still a possibility, but the team is still waiting on Altchek's evaluation.

Edgin had an MRI Tuesday and will be reassessed Wednesday, although the team has not announced the nature of his ailment yet, The Record's Matt Ehalt reports.
His velocity was down for the second straight day Monday, and the team apparently is concerned that something might be wrong. He is slated to be a middle reliever for the Mets this season, so the fantasy value here is minimal. We should know more about his status in the coming days.

Edgin's velocity is down for the second straight camp, prompting manager Terry Collins' for the player and team's lefty relief options, ESPN New York reports.
Edgin, who was hit hard again Monday, is throwing his fastball in 88-91 mph range, down from the usual consistent 92-93 range. Because there are few good options available, the Mets likely won't send him down to the minors as they did last year. New York opted not to sign any lefty relievers to a major-league deal this offseason, taking Sean Gilmartin in the Rule 5 draft and inking Scott Rice to a minor-league deal to go along with farmhands Dario Alvarez and Jack Leathersich. None have pitched well, possibly leaving a huge hole in the team's pen.

Edgin (elbow), pitching for the first time in 17 days, struck out Corey Dickerson with the bases loaded Tuesday.
Edgin did what he does best - retiring the first batter, stranding inherited runners and setting down lefties. He now has retired 36 of 42 first batters he has faced while lefties are just 11-for-64 with 17 strikeouts.

Edgin (elbow inflammation) will remain in New York to see the team's doctors and manager Terry Collins said he will be "down for a while," ESPNNewYork.com reports.
The Mets have recently pushed lefty relievers very hard, seen in the injuries to Pedro Feliciano and Tim Byrdak, and the worry has to be Edgin is the next in line to miss substantive time. More will be know following his exam by the team's doctors.

Edgin (elbow inflammation) looks to be available for Thursday's game, Kristie Ackert of the NY Daily News reports.
Edgin missed the last two games with the ailment. He has been used heavily by manager Terry Collins, as for a good part of the season, he was the only lefty out of the pen, Edgin has been excellent in retiring the first hitter and stranding inherited runners while seeing a good portion of his action against left-handed hitters.

Edgin is expected to miss Wednesday's game with the elbow inflammation that sidelined him Tuesday, ESPN New York reports.
Manager Terry Collins did not appear overly concerned that Edgin will be out for a while, unlike Vic Black, whose back injury will sidelined him a bit longer. Edgin could possibly be available Thursday, though it would not be surprising to see him miss another day or two, despite what Collins said.

Edgin is dealing with an elbow issue and may not be available out of the bullpen Wednesday, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.
Edgin was also deemed unavailable Tuesday as a result of the injury. For now, it doesn't sound like the Mets will be calling up any bullpen reinforcements from the minors, so Edgin's injury wouldn't seem to be particularly serious.
