Edgin is dealing with an overstretched ligament in his elbow that is causing tendonitis, Mike Vorkunov of the Newark Star-Ledger reports. Edgin seems all but certain to begin the season on the disabled list, but the real question appears to be whether he will undergo Tommy John surgery, or stick to a rest and rehab approach. If he's able to avoid surgery, he'll attempt to throw again in roughly 2-to-3 weeks.

Edgin may just need rest and rehab on his elbow/arm, though that has to be officially confirmed, ESPN New York reports. Edgin's velocity has been down this spring, prompting his receiving an MRI and getting examined by Dr. David Altchek, the Mets' physician. Surgery is still a possibility, but the team is still waiting on Altchek's evaluation.
