With this development, Edgin's return date from Tommy John surgery is still estimated to be on May 1. However, it's nice to see that the left-hander appears to be progressing well and is on schedule for his return to the Mets bullpen.

Edgin (elbow) is expected to be ready about one month into the season, ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports.
EDGE Analysis
Edgin had Tommy John surgery in March and subsequently missed the entire 2015 season. Previous reports suggested he would be ready for Opening Day, but it now sounds as if that won't be the case. Assuming he returns to his pre-injury form, he'll be a key lefty in the New York bullpen.

EDGE Analysis
Edgin missed the entire 2015 season, but he'll return in 2016 and will look to pick up where he left off in 2014, when he posted a 1.32 ERA across 27.1 relief innings. Edgin is expected to be ready for Opening Day.

Edgin (elbow) has been placed on the DL by the Mets, ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports. He will miss the 2015 season due to Tommy John surgery, and the Mets will transfer him to the 60-day DL upon needing a 40-man roster spot in the coming weeks.

Edgin has decided to have Tommy John surgery to repair his injured elbow, ESPN New York reports. Edgin will miss all of the 2015 season due to the surgery. His absence leaves a big hole in the Mets' bullpen, as he was slated to be the main - or possibly - only lefty - in the bullpen and the team did little to address that situation this off-season.

The Mets are getting a second opinion on Edgin's injured elbow from Dr. James Andrews, Newsday's Marc Carig reports. Edgin can seemingly be ruled out for the start of the season, as he may even need Tommy John surgery. If it's ultimately decided that he doesn't need the procedure, Edgin will likely take a few weeks off from throwing.
