Jon Singleton has been working with hitting coach John Mallee on shortening his swing.
Mallee said the results so far have been "absolutely amazing" and Singleton just has to trust his new swing in game action. "I'm trying to get better each and every day," Singleton said. "I'm trying to make small adjustments and trying to adjust to what they throw me and stuff like that and trying to time the ball better. Nothing too major. Just daily adjustments." Singleton has homered seven times but is batting just .178 in 163 at-bats with the big club.

Jon Singleton hit his seventh home run of the season in Sunday's loss to the Marlins.
Singleton took Marlins closer Steve Cishek deep in the ninth inning, just the second home run Cishek has allowed this season. It was Singleton's only hit in two at-bats, as he also walked twice. He's got seven home runs in 46 games but has struggled mightily at the dish, hitting .178/.266/.350 in his first taste of major league pitching.

Jon Singleton went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer, an RBI double and a walk as the Astros topped the Rangers 12-7 on Monday.
Singleton's best-game to date. In fact, he had as many hits tonight as in his previous 10 games combined. But while Singleton is batting just .188, he has six homers and 20 RBI in 33 games for the Astros. He should only get better.

Jon Singleton launched a solo home run Friday against the Rays.
It was the only offense of the night for the Astros. Singleton is hitting .250 (11-for-44) with four home runs and 10 RBI over his first 11 games in the majors. We're not counting on much in the batting average department for the rookie, but the power should make him relevant in fantasy leagues.

Jon Singleton went 2-for-6 with a grand slam as the Astros pounded the Twins 14-5 on Sunday.
Singleton's ninth inning blast was the second grand slam of the game for the Astros, following Chris Carter's shot in the seventh. It was the first baseman's second home run in six games since being recalled, with all six of his runs batted in coming on homers. It's been an up and down first week, as he's hitting just .200 with a .231 on-base percentage and a 10/1 K/BB ratio to go along with the two bombs.

Jon Singleton homered in his major league debut, and the Astros beat the Angels 7-2 on Tuesday.
Singleton looked silly in striking out against C.J. Wilson in his first major league at-bat, but the first baseman worked a bases-loaded walk for his first RBI as part of the Astros' five-run third inning. Later, with the bases empty, Singleton launched a Matt Shoemaker pitch to right field for his first big league blast. Enough hype surrounded his promotion that he's likely been snatched up in most leagues, but he's worth a flyer for his power potential in any leagues where he's still on the wire.
