Panik batted seventh and went 3-for-6 with a run, and RBI, and a triple in the loss to Arizona on Thursday.
Panik was moved up to seventh in the order, a day after being demoted from second to eighth. He responded well with a multi-hit performance and a game-tying triple in the bottom of the ninth inning. Panik had been struggling out of the gates, but a few more games like Thursday's should result in a return to his usual spot in the two-hole. But until that happens, he is just a guy to monitor on waivers in all but the deepest leagues.

Panik has been moved all the way down to eighth in the Giants' lineup Wednesday, CSN Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic reports.
He is hitting just .200 with two extra-base hits and eight strikeouts in 30 at-bats to start the season, so it was probably time for a change. As the No. 2 hitter, Panik had some counting-stat potential, but in the eight hole, he doesn't have the tools to be of much use in standard formats unless he's hitting close to .300, which is obviously not the case at this point.

Panik will receive the day off despite the fact that a right-handed pitcher, with Matt Duffy starting in his place. While he's expected to see most of the starts at second base this season, it's worth noting days off may not be limited to left-handed pitching.

Panik has been scratched from Tuesday's Cactus League lineup, after suffering a minor ankle injury Monday, Andrew Baggarly of the Bay Area News Group reports.
This doesn't sound like anything that will threaten Panik's Opening Day availability, as the report says the Giants are just being overly cautious as the season draws near. If the injury unexpectedly turns out to be more serious, the candidates for playing time at second base will be Ehire Adrianza, Joaquin Arias and Matt Duffy.

Panik is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres, according to Alex Pavlovic of the Mercury News.
Panik has started every game but one since August 26, so he will get a well-deserved day off Saturday. Matt Duffy will get the start at second base in Panik's place.

Panik went collected three hits and an RBI in Monday's extra-inning win over the Dodgers.
Panik continues to hit second for the Giants and is now batting .304 on the season. Despite the high batting average, he is proving to be nothing more than a contact hitter. 62 of his 75 hits have all been singles, and it has led to a pedesrtian .372 slugging percentage. If you are looking for batting average and a little help in runs, then Panik is your man; otherwise, he doesn't provide much from a fantasy perspective.
