Panik is out of the lineup Thursday against the Dodgers. He gets the start at the keystone most days for the Giants, but will make way for Matt Duffy in Thursday's contest. While he won't offer much power or speed, his ability to hit for a high average and score a lot of runs brings plenty to the table in deeper leagues.

Panik will bat third in the order Sunday against the Marlins. Panik will occupy the three-spot for the first time this season, as both Buster Posey and Angel Pagan will receive the day off. Panik's currently riding a seven-game hit streak, and manager Bruce Bochy will recognize that with move to a more prominent spot in the order, though it's likely temporary.

Panik smacked his second homer of the season in Tuesday's win over San Diego. The home run was Panik's second in three games. He appears to be in a groove right now and should be owned while hot.

Panik went 2-for-4 with his first home run of the season in Sunday's win over the Angels. Nori Aoki and Panik delivered back-to-back homers to start the game for the Giants. Panik is a contact hitter who won't hit a lot of bombs, but he is batting .293 on the season and should be a solid source of runs batting second in San Francisco's lineup.

Panik is not in the lineup Friday against the Angels, MLB Network Radio reports. Panik is getting the day off, possibly due to the fact that he is 4-for-18 against lefties this season, and southpaw C.J. Wilson is starting for the Angels. Panik is also 3-for-14 (.214) with two RBI in his last five games, so a day of rest could help. Matt Duffy will take his place at second base Friday.
