Giants infield prospect Joe Panik went 1-for-3 with a grand slam and a walk for Triple-A Fresno on Thursday. After playing shortstop for the first 10 games of the season, Panik has played second base during every game in which he played the field. He has hit well over his last 25 games, putting up a .347/.400/.535 line with six doubles, two triples, and three home runs. He projects as a utility infielder who hits .280 with some power from the right side.

Giants infield prospect Joe Panik picked up another hit for Triple-A Fresno on Monday night, and his season line sits at .341/.397/.421. The former first-round pick has hit .500/.548/.607 over his past seven games while playing second base. He started the first 10 games of the season at shortstop, spent one game as the DH, and has spent 20 of the last 21 at second base, with his only reprieve being one game spent as the DH. Panik is unlikely to be more than a utility infielder, but he could be a solid high-average, low power utility infielder.

Giants reassigned INF Joe Panik, RHPs Jose Valdez, Edward Concepcion, Fabio Castillo and Justin Fitzgerald, LHP Josh Osich and C Andrew Susac to minor league camp. No surprises here. Panik is the most high profile of the cuts as a former first-round pick, but he finished last year in A-ball and is obviously a ways away from the majors.

Giants prospect infielder Joe Panik has yet to make his Cactus League debut due to right hamstring tightness. The Giants are holding him out as a precaution, so it doesn't sound like a major concern. Panik, 22, owns a .312/.379/.424 batting line over his first two seasons in the minors and was recently ranked as the organization's No. 2 prospect by Baseball America.
