Jimmy Rollins told reporters Tuesday that there's a "good chance" he'll re-sign with the Phillies.
It sounds like the type of thing that any impending free agent would say about the only team he's ever played for. Fact is, the Phillies will have to make a competitive bid, and Rollins is known to be seeking a five-year deal. On a free agent market that lacks depth, the 32-year-old shortstop could be a hot commodity.

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel is going with his standard lineup in Game 5 against the Cardinals on Friday night, complete with Jimmy Rollins out of the leadoff spot.
Rollins is batting .563 (9-for-16) with four doubles during the NLDS, including a pair of doubles against Carpenter in Game 2. Aside from switching Raul Ibanez out for John Mayberry Jr. against left-hander Jaime Garcia, the Phillies have used the same lineup throughout the series.

Jimmy Rollins confirmed Sunday that he's not going to give the Phillies a hometown discount in free agency.
The impending free agent shortstop also confirmed that he's hoping for a five-year deal. "When free agency comes about, people are going to pay you for what your numbers reflect," said Rollins, who turns 33 years old in November. "As far as my legacy here in Philadelphia?" he said. "It's pretty solid."

Jimmy Rollins went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals.
Rollins is now 5-for-8 with a walk and five runs scored through two games in the NLDS. Rollins batted .268/.338/.399 with 16 homers and 30 stolen bases this year and got hot at the end of the season. He appears to have carried that momentum into the playoffs.

Jimmy Rollins told Jon Heyman of SI.com that he hopes to get a five-year contract in free agency this winter.
"Five would be great. Five would be the number,'' said Rollins. "I don't think I want six or seven. You start thinking about 39 (years old). Do I want to play at 39?'' Five years is probably a stretch for someone who will be 33 years old next season, but a pair of baseball executives estimated that Rollins could receive a contract ranging from three years and at least $12 million per year to four years and $14 million per season. For what it's worth, Heyman hears that the Phillies would prefer to keep him with a three-year deal. Ultimately, Rollins may be a cheaper alternative for teams interested in Jose Reyes.

Jimmy Rollins went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Braves.
He also stole his 30th base of the season. Rollins is getting hot for the Phillies just in time, as it's his second straight game with a homer and his fourth straight game with at least two hits. He's got his batting line up to .271/.340/.403 for the season to go along with 16 homers and 63 RBI.

Jimmy Rollins is not in the Phillies' starting lineup for the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Marlins.
Rollins just returned from a groin injury, so Phillies manager Charlie Manuel will continue to rest him whenever possible. Michael Martinez will start at shortstop in the first game, but look for Rollins to play in the nightcap.

Jimmy Rollins is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Astros.
The Phillies plan to ease Rollins back into the lineup, so it's no surprise he's getting a rest with the day game. Michael Martinez will play shortstop Wednesday and bat eighth against right-hander Bud Norris.

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel plans to ease Jimmy Rollins back into the lineup.
Rollins is starting his second straight game Tuesday since coming off the DL last week, but won't play every day initially. "I'll probably play him a couple of days and then rest him, play him a couple more then rest him, and then let him go," Manuel said.
