Jimmy Rollins is getting the day off Wednesday against the Diamondbacks. With Thursday's scheduled off-day, Rollins will actually get two days to rest. Freddy Galvis will start in his place at shortstop Wednesday while Pete Orr plays second base.

Jimmy Rollins had two hits and two stolen bases in Sunday's loss to the Padres. Rollins came into this one mired in an ugly 0-for-14 slump as he tries to hold down the No. 3 spot in the Phils' depleted lineup. The career .272 hitter is now at .254 on the young season. The good news for owners is that Rollins' legs haven't slowed even though he's now 33. Rollins had 30 steals last year and four in 16 games this season.

Jimmy Rollins went 1-for-4 in the Phillies' anemic offensive attack Saturday against Jon Niese and the Mets. The Phillies only manged six hits -- all singles -- in the game. Rollins is off to a strong start to the season hitting .333 (11-for-33). Though he's driven in just one run despite hitting third in the lineup.

Jimmy Rollins will hit third in the Phillies batting order to start the season. Shane Victorino will likely hit leadoff, following by Placido Polando, as the Phils are having to shuffle things around with both Chase Utley and Ryan Howard on the shelf. Rollins should garner a few more RBI opportunities.

Jimmy Rollins was scratched from Thursday's Grapefruit League lineup. No panic needed, as Rollins is just getting a day off. Pete Orr will take his place at shortstop while Ty Wigginton gets a test at second base.

Jimmy Rollins went 2-for-2 with a walk and two steals Monday as the Phillies beat the Yankees 9-3. It was the third straight day the two teams played, with the Phillies prevailing for the first time. Rollins stole his bases off David Robertson in the third inning. It's as many steals as he had all of last spring.

Phillies re-signed SS Jimmy Rollins to a three-year, $38 million contract with a vesting option for 2015. He'll make $11 million in each of the next three seasons. If the $11 million option for 2015 does not vest, it becomes an $8 million club option or a $5 million player option. Rollins originally hoped to find a five-year contract this offseason, but once the Brewers and Cardinals settled on their shortstops, most believed it was only a matter of time before he returned to Philadelphia. While his production has slipped a bit in recent seasons, the terms of the deal aren't particularly outrageous. If Rollins can stay healthy, he'll have a chance to pass Hall of Fame third baseman Mike Schmidt as the team's all-time hit leader.

The Phillies have re-signed Jimmy Rollins to a three-year extension, reports ESPN's Jerry Crasnick. Exact terms of the contract are not yet known but the deal is believed to be worth $33 million with a vesting option. Rollins was originally looking for a five-year deal but the market was unwilling to meet his asking price. The 33-year-old has seen his offensive numbers decline since 2007, but managed to hit .268/.338/.399 this past season with 16 homers and 30 stolen bases.

Scott Miller of CBSSports.com hears that a deal between the Phillies and Jimmy Rollins is not close. The two sides continue dialogue, but Rollins' agent Dan Lozano is reportedly having conversations with an unidentified club. It's not clear who that might be, but some suspect the Tigers could be lingering. The 33-year-old shortstop originally wanted a five-year deal, but now that most of his alternatives have settled on their shortstops, he will almost certainly have to lower his demands.

Jimmy Rollins' agent, Dan Lozano, has told the Phillies that he is having dialogue with a second unidentified team, according to Jayson Stark of ESPN.com. The Brewers and Cardinals are off the board as alternatives, so Rollins is hurting for leverage in talks with the Phillies. For what it's worth, Stark was told that other clubs believe the Tigers have interest, though it's not known whether they are aggressively pursuing him. We expect that the veteran shortstop will eventually have to come down from his demands of a five-year deal, perhaps settling for a three-year contract with an option for a fourth year.
