Nelson (head) was released from the hospital Saturday and is scheduled for a checkup with a neurologist Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Nelson was fortunate to escape with only a bruise on his head after taking a line drive to the dome during his start Thursday against the Cardinals. The Brewers sent Nelson as the hospital as a precaution, but he's been diagnosed with nothing more than a bruise as of yet. The visit with the neurologist will likely allow the Brewers to determine if Nelson is experiencing any late-arriving concussion symptoms. He has yet to be ruled out for his next start, scheduled for Tuesday against the Cubs.

Nelson's (head) CT scan revealed just a bruise on his head, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nelson will remain in the hospital overnight, but considering the alternatives, a head bruise is about the best the Brewers could hope for. It's unclear how much time the young hurler will miss because of the issue, but a timetable should be revealed in the coming days.

Nelson exited Thursday's game in the third inning after after being struck in the head by a line drive.
EDGE Analysis
It's an unfortunate break for Nelson, who had a good season going for the Brewers. Fortunately, he was able to walk off the field on his own, so it's possible there was no major damage. The team will likely provide an update at some point as to the severity of the issue.

Nelson was tagged for four runs on four hits, walking three and striking out two over five-plus innings of a 6-3 loss to the Pirates on Friday night.
EDGE Analysis
Nelson (11-12, 3.95 ERA) has struggled over the past couple of weeks, allowing four or more runs in three of his last four starts while not pitching past the fifth inning in any of the three. He has now logged 175.1 innings in 2015, and could be wearing down somewhat as his command has been increasingly problematic.

Nelson (10-10) struggled mightily Wednesday in a loss to Cleveland, giving up five runs on four hits and a career-high eight walks over just 3.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Nelson's control abandons him once in a while, but never to such an extreme. It's a shame, too, as he'd been on an impressive run dating back to his final outing before the All-Star break, posting a sparkling 1.87 ERA with a 49:16 K:BB over that eight-start span. He'll look to bounce back against the Pirates on Monday.

Nelson was cruising for much of Friday's start, but an error and some bad luck in the seventh inning cost him a shot at victory. He will head into the All-Star break with a 4.21 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 89 strikeouts over 109 innings.

Nelson picked up Saturday's win against the Reds after allowing three runs on eight hits with one walk and five strikeouts in 5.2 innings.
Nelson has now won three starts in a row, but much like his last start his ratios sting a bit. After finishing with a 5.56 ERA and a .301 average against in six June starts, Nelson was not much better in his first July start.

Nelson (4-8) gave up one run on two hits and one walk while striking out five in Wednesday's win over the Mets.
It was a nice victory for Nelson, especially after struggling his two previous starts. He allowed seven runs and 10 hits over five innings in a 7-2 home defeat to Washington on June 13, then yielded three runs and a career-worst 11 hits over five in Friday's 3-2 loss at Kansas City. Nelson will look to build on Thursday's solid performance in his next scheduled start Monday at Philadelphia.
