Nelson lost Monday against the Cubs as he pitched six innings and allowed three runs, nine hits and one walk to go along with four strikeouts. Nelson turned in a quality start Monday, but didn't get much offensive support behind him. He was recalled to start this game and is likely heading to the bullpen even though he pitched well.

Nelson was recalled from High-A Brevard County and will start Monday against the Cubs, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Nelson will return Monday to oppose Jacob Tuner, in what figures to be his final start before heading to the bullpen. Mike Fiers' emergence and Matt Garza's impending return from an oblique injury has the young right-hander as the odd man out, but Nelson still projects as a key rotation piece in years to come. Nelson has posted a 4.10 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in nine starts for Milwaukee, after going 10-2 with a 1.46 ERA in 17 appearances (16 starts) with Triple-A Nashville.

Nelson was optioned to High-A Brevard County on Saturday. Alfredo Figaro was recalled to take Nelson's spot on the active roster, but Brevard County's season ends Sunday, so Nelson will be eligible to return when rosters expand Monday. However, with Matt Garza (oblique) on track to return early next week, Nelson is likely to be moved to the bullpen for the stretch run.

Nelson gave up four runs on nine hits over 5.2 innings in a loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday afternoon. While he avoided the damage of the long ball, Nelson was knocked around by a good Toronto lineup in his eighth start of the season. Since rejoining the Milwaukee rotation on July 12 against the Cards, Nelson has turned in a quality start in five of his seven trips to the mound. Nelson will make a pair of road starts next week, first in San Diego on Monday before a second start in San Francisco on August 31.

Nelson was the losing pitcher against the Dodgers on Sunday. He gave up eight hits and two runs (with three strikeouts and one walk) in six innings. Nelson labored through the third and fifth innings and that's all opposing starter Clayton Kershaw needed. Despite the loss Sunday, Nelson has pitched well for Milwaukee lately, surrendering three or fewer earned runs in four consecutive starts. He's set to toe the rubber against Kershaw and the Dodgers again on Friday.

Nelson (finger) has been confirmed as Tuesday's starter against the Giants. The Brewers were forced to scratch Nelson from his scheduled start Saturday after a blister broke open during his side session, but the right-hander will not even miss a full turn in the rotation. He'll slot back in Tuesday against Tim Lincecum and the Giants at Miller Park, marking Nelson's fourth home start in five career outings.
