The Rockies are actively shopping Jeremy Guthrie, according to ESPN's Buster Olney. It's doubtful that they will find a taker, unless the Rockies eat a majority of the money owed to Guthrie and accept next to nothing in return. Guthrie, acquired from the Orioles over the winter for Jason Hammel and Matt Lindstrom, is pitching on a one-year, $8.2 million deal. He made it just three innings Sunday against Detroit, allowing four runs -- three earned -- on eight hits and two walks to bring his ERA to 7.02 through 59 innings. If Colorado can't find a taker, they might banish him to the bullpen or even consider designating Guthrie for assignment.

Rockies manager Jim Tracy indicated Wednesday that Jeremy Guthrie could be bumped from the rotation "if we don't see improvement." The Rockies' big offseason pitching acquisition, Guthrie holds a 6.91 ERA and 1.75 WHIP through 10 outings. We suspect he'd eventually turn it around if some degree if left in the rotation, but we can't blame Tracy for having a short leash at this point. He didn't mention who might replace the veteran righty, but Drew Pomeranz has pitched well since being demoted to Triple-A.

Jeremy Guthrie was crushed again on Tuesday, allowing seven runs on eight hits over five innings against the A's. How much more of this can Colorado take? Guthrie surrendered three homers to the punchless A's and he's now given up 15 on the year. Guthrie insists that his early-season struggles are not injury related and Rockies manager Jim Tracy said he's given no thought to removing him from the rotation. The only reason for the latter's quote is that Colorado is low on alternatives to replace their big offseason pitching acquisition. Guthrie is 3-5 with a 6.91 ERA and 1.75 WHIP through 10 outings. He's not playable in any format.

Jeremy Guthrie confirmed that his early-season struggles are not injury related. "I'm healthy,'' Guthrie said. ''I'm just not executing pitches as well as I need to. My biggest problem is that I am not throwing strikes early, and when I get behind in counts I'm throwing [bad] pitches." Guthrie allowed seven runs in his last start to the Diamondbacks and currently owns a 6.35 ERA and 1.73 WHIP through his first nine games. The 12 home runs he's given up are tied for second-most in the National League.

Rockies manager Jim Tracy said he's given no thought to removing the struggling Jeremy Guthrie from the rotation. "We are going to move forward with Jeremy Guthrie," Tracy said. "I still feel very strongly about it. We need Jeremy Guthrie, there is no getting around that. We will get to where we need to be." Guthrie holds an ugly 6.35 ERA and 1.73 WHIP in his first nine starts with the Rockies, but they're not going to give up on their big offseason pitching acquisition, especially when they don't really have many alternatives.

Jeremy Guthrie was crushed again on Tuesday, allowing seven runs on 11 hits over 3 1/3 innings against the Diamondbacks. He struck out four and gave up a pair of walks and a pair of homers. Guthrie has been a disaster thus far, posting a 6.35 ERA and 1.73 WHIP while striking out just 23 batters in 51 innings. He shouldn't be owned or started in all but the deepest of NL-only leagues.

Jeremy Guthrie wasn't at his best on Thursday, allowing five runs on 12 hits over seven innings against the Astros, though he did manage to pick up the win. Guthrie struck out one and didn't walk a batter in the game. Staked to a 9-1 lead after two innings, all he needed to do was throw strikes and eat innings, which he happy obliged. With the victory, he improves to 3-3 on the season, though his ERA is still inflated at 5.48 and he only has 19 strikeouts in 47 2/3 innings. He shouldn't be owned or started in all but the deepest of leagues, especially when pitching at home. He'll square off against the Diamondbacks in Arizona on Tuesday, hoping for a repeat of the tremendous run support.

Jeremy Guthrie got roughed up by the Mariners in Sunday's home loss, allowing six runs on seven hits, two walks and three home runs in six innings of work. More of the same from Guthrie in his new high-elevation home, as he's now the owner of a 9.92 ERA through three starts and 16 1/3 innings at Coors Field. He's not worth rostering in 10-12 team mixed leagues until he begins to produce in the stadium where he'll be making half his starts.

Jeremy Guthrie held the Giants to an unearned run over 5 1/3 innings Tuesday in his return from the disabled list. Guthrie walked four and hit a batter, so he wasn't particularly sharp. The Giants couldn't make him pay, though. Unfortunately, they did get to Josh Outman afterwards, so Guthrie didn't get a win. Still, it was a positive first start back.

Rockies activated RHP Jeremy Guthrie from the 15-day disabled list. Guthrie gets the start Tuesday against the Giants. The 33-year-old right-hander had a 5.92 ERA over four starts prior to injuring his right shoulder in a bicycle accident two weeks ago.
