Javier Vazquez held the Mets to just one run on six hits in seven innings on Monday, improving to 9-11 in Florida's 9-3 victory at home.
He struck out seven and walked none. Vazquez has come on strong after getting off to a disastrous start this season, and is now 4-3 with a 2.89 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 67/13 K/BB ratio in 65 1/3 innings since the All-Star break. He'll get the Nationals in Washington on Friday.

Javier Vazquez struck out a season-high 11 batters while allowing three runs in seven innings Wednesday versus the Reds.
Vazquez has turned in six straight quality starts, though he has just one win to show for it. He left a tie game today, so he remained 7-11 for the season. Nevertheless, he's throwing very well at the moment, and with his velocity better than it's been since the beginning of last year, there's good reason to think it will continue.

Updating a previous item, Javier Vazquez will indeed start Saturday against the Giants.
All went well with Vazquez's wife's surgery, so he'll be able to make Saturday's start after all. The Marlins initially intended to push him back to next week. Chris Volstad, who was going to start in his place Saturday, will go on Sunday.

Javier Vazquez won't pitch Saturday against the Giants due to a family emergency in his native Puerto Rico.
Vazquez left the team during this week's series against the Braves. He is expected to make his next start Wednesday against the Rockies. The recently-recalled Chris Volstad will start in his place Saturday.

Javier Vazquez spun seven innings of one-run ball, giving up six hits, in Wednesday's win against the Nationals.
He struck out four and walked three. Vazquez put together a nice six-start string (1.69 ERA) that lowered his ERA from 7.09 to 5.14 prior to getting tagged for five runs in 4 1/3 innings by the Padres in a loss Thursday. He returned to good graces this evening in a nice matchup. Vazquez gets the Mets next week.

Javier Vazquez was tagged for five runs in 4 1/3 innings by the Padres in a loss Thursday.
Vazquez had put together a nice six-start string that lowered his ERA from 7.09 to 5.14, but while it may not have been a mirage, his stuff still isn't what it was a couple of years ago. He'll probably remain more bad than good going forward.

The Marlins will consider trading Javier Vazquez, Leo Nunez and Randy Choate, but won't discuss Ricky Nolasco, Anibal Sanchez or Josh Johnson, according to Danny Knobler of CBS Sports.
Vazquez has an impressive 1.69 ERA over his last six starts after a rough start to the season. It's unlikely that an AL team would give up much to get him, however. "I think he gets hives when he even flies over an AL city," a scout said. Nunez is 26-for-29 in save situations this season. A trade would kill his fantasy value, however, as he'd likely move into a setup role.

Javier Vazquez continued his resurgence Saturday by allowing three runs over seven innings and striking out a season-high 10 in a blowout win against the Cubs.
It was his first start with double-digit strikeouts since June 11, 2009 with the Braves. His lone mistake was a three-run homer by Aramis Ramirez in the sixth. Vazquez now has an impressive 1.69 ERA over his last six starts. We could hear his name in trade rumors in the coming days, but he's a must-start with a matchup against the Padres next week.

Javier Vazquez continues to turn things around Friday, limiting the Astros to two runs on six hits while striking out four over seven innings in the 6-3 win.
After looking earlier in the season like he should be designated for assignment, Vazquez has suddenly righted the ship, allowing just six runs over his last five starts while boasting a 19/3 K/BB ratio. He recently credited his turnaround with the fact that he's using his lower half in his delivery more. Hey, whatever's working, Javy. The veteran right-hander will bring a still-awful 5.42 ERA and 1.51 WHIP into the All-Star break.

Javier Vazquez credits his recent success to using the lower half of his body more in his delivery.
Pitching coach Randy St. Claire pointed out to Vazquez in late May that he could be using his lower half more, and although the adjustment didn't pay off right away, the right-hander has allowed just two runs over his past 17 1/3 innings while boasting a 12/2 K/BB ratio. "It hasn't meant better results because I had some really bad games during that stretch," Vazquez said. "But the life of my fastball is back, and I feel a lot better." We're not ready to call him a mixed league option again yet, but his recent results are certainly encouraging.
