Javier Vazquez will undergo right knee surgery on Wednesday. It's not a major procedure, as he's having his meniscus repaired and should be throwing at 100 percent again in two to three weeks. Jim Bowden of ESPN.com and MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM hears that Vazquez has drawn interest from seven teams this offseason following positive reports in winter ball, but he has yet to make up his mind about a possible comeback in MLB.

Javier Vazquez told a Puerto Rican newspaper that he's "not in a hurry" to sign and hasn't received any offers from MLB teams. Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported that the Nationals are showing heavy interest in Vazquez, but they may not be willing to offer him more than a minor league contract. Vazquez has also been linked to the Rangers, Phillies, Red Sox, Indians, and Rays as possible landing spots. The veteran right-hander is expected to wait until after he pitches for Puerto Rico in the upcoming World Baseball Classic to make a decision on whether he'll make a comeback in 2013.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Nationals are showing heavy interest in free agent right-hander Javier Vazquez. Scouts have been raving about Vazquez, who is throwing 92-95 MPH with terrific command in the Puerto Rican Winter League. More than a dozen teams have already expressed interest in signing him, but Vazquez won't make a decision until after the World Baseball Classic on whether he'll return to the MLB.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo is in Puerto Rico Thursday to watch Javier Vazquez pitch. Vazquez's general manager, Alex Cora, tweeted that the right-hander hit 95 mph on his 83rd pitch. The Nats are one of a handful of teams that have scouted Vazquez, but they don't make much sense as a landing spot given that they already have five viable starters. ESPN's Jim Bowden reports that more than half of the 30 teams have shown interest in Vazquez, who is expected to decide after the World Baseball Classic whether he'll make a comeback in 2013. If he does return, it's expected to be for a contender.

Andy McCullough of the Newark Star-Ledger reports that the Mets have scouted Javier Vazquez in the Puerto Rican Winter League. He's just one of the many names the Mets are considering as they attempt to fill R.A. Dickey's spot in the rotation, including free agents Shaun Marcum, Carl Pavano and Chris Young and trade possibilities like Chris Capuano and Aaron Harang from the Dodgers. Vazquez, who is considering a comeback, has also been scouted by the Red Sox, Rays, Nationals and Royals. It's been reported that he may wait to make a decision until after he pitches for Puerto Rico in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Red Sox, Rays, Nationals and Royals were all in attendance to watch Javier Vazquez in his Puerto Rican Winter League debut on Friday. By all accounts, Vazquez looked very sharp during the outing. He pitched six shutout innings, allowing just three singles and no walks while racking up four strikeouts. His velocity sat consistently at 93 mph, touching as high as 95, and he maintained good command of the strike zone. Interest in the veteran right-hander should heat up after this terrific showing.

According to Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN, Twins assistant GM Rob Antony gave the impression that the Twins did not attend Javier Vasquez's tryout in Puerto Rico on Friday. Antony also made it sound like making a big move for a starter, such as Shawn Marcum or Joe Saunders, wasn't going to happen. Barring an upgrade, the Twins will head into spring training with Vance Worley, Scott Diamond and Kevin Correia as the top three pitchers in their rotation.

Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports heard from a scout on Thursday that Javier Vazquez "physically looks great." The scout thinks Vazquez, a free agent, could be a "sneaky good pickup" for some team. The Red Sox are expected to give him a look on Friday in the Puerto Rican Winter League and the Nationals scouted him last week. Vazqeuz, 36, did not pitch professionally in 2012. He currently owns a 4.22 career ERA and a 1.25 career WHIP.

Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports that the Red Sox will be among the teams to scout Javier Vazquez during his Puerto Rican Winter League start Friday. Vazquez, 36, is considering a return to the majors in 2013 after sitting out the 2012 campaign, though he won't make a decision until after the World Baseball Classic. The veteran right-hander went 13-11 with a 3.69 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 162/50 K/BB ratio over 192 2/3 innings with the Marlins in 2011 and should draw interest from multiple teams if he indeed decides to make a comeback.
