Javier Vazquez credits his recent success to using the lower half of his body more in his delivery. Pitching coach Randy St. Claire pointed out to Vazquez in late May that he could be using his lower half more, and although the adjustment didn't pay off right away, the right-hander has allowed just two runs over his past 17 1/3 innings while boasting a 12/2 K/BB ratio. "It hasn't meant better results because I had some really bad games during that stretch," Vazquez said. "But the life of my fastball is back, and I feel a lot better." We're not ready to call him a mixed league option again yet, but his recent results are certainly encouraging.
