Junis (1-0) allowed three hits and one walk while striking out six over seven scoreless innings in a win over the Tigers on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
It was a cold, rainy afternoon and he was going against a weak lineup, but this was an encouraging performance nonetheless. Junis induced 12 swinging strikes on 87 pitches and was regularly ahead in the count, issuing first-pitch strikes to 19 of 25 batters faced. Spring stats generally aren't very predictive, but Junis had a 20:1 K:BB in 14.1 Cactus League innings, and small-sample extremes like that sometimes do mean something. Junis lines up to face the Indians in Cleveland on Sunday.

Junis has allowed two earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out 14 in 10 innings so far this spring.
EDGE Analysis
The pinpoint control that Junis displayed in the second half last year -- he had a 3.5 percent walk rate after the All-Star break -- has carried over into the spring. What's surprising is the 14 strikeouts, as Junis had a modest K-rate at the big-league level last year (7.3 K/9), although his runs at Double- and Triple-A hinted at room for some growth in that department. Nothing is official yet, but Junis seems to be cementing himself into the Kansas City rotation with his performance in camp.

Junis will compete for a spot in Kansas City's rotation during spring training, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Junis put up impressive rookie numbers in 2017, finishing at 9-3 with a 4.30 ERA in 16 starts. However, if he hopes to earn a spot in the starting five, he'll have to beat out teammates Jesse Hahn and Trevor Oaks -- both players were acquired in the offseason to bolster the pitching staff. As long as he puts together a decent showing this spring, Junis looks to be one of the favorites to lock up a starting role.

Junis (9-3) completed six innings Saturday against the Diamondbacks, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks to pick up the victory. He also struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Junis was actually on the hook for the loss after serving up a home run to A.J. Pollock in the sixth, but he was saved by the offense in the bottom half of the inning. This was good to see from the 25-year-old after getting shellacked in his previous start. He'll close out the 2017 campaign with a 4.30 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP, although he only allowed more than two earned runs during two starts in the month of September. This will likely give him a good chance at keeping his spot in the Royals' rotation heading into next season.

Junis (8-3) took the loss after allowing six runs on seven hits and a walk in 5.2 innings Monday against the Yankees. He struck out four batters.
EDGE Analysis
Junis was hit hard in this one, as five of the seven hits he conceded went for extra-bases, including a pair of homers by Aaron Judge and Greg Bird. It was a rare blowup for Junis, as Monday marked the first time since June 29 that the 25-year-old allowed more than three runs in a start; he owned a 2.42 ERA and 38:5 K:BB across eight starts (48.1 innings) over that stretch. Junis will look to get back on track and finish his rookie season on a high note, with his final start lined up for Saturday against the Diamondbacks. Seeing as Arizona has already clinched home-field advantage in the NL wild-card game, they may end up resting some regular starters.

Junis pitched 5.2 innings, allowing one run on seven hits and a walk while striking out one in a no-decision Thursday against Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
Junis turned over a 2-1 lead to the bullpen that was squandered with two outs in the ninth inning. Facing a team that entered Thursday on a record-breaking 21-game winning streak, Junis delivered a strong performance that dropped his ERA to 4.15, its lowest point since May 21. The 24-year-old righty continues to turn in solid efforts, and is now 5-0 with a 2.99 ERA over his last nine games dating back to June 29. Junis will look to continue the positive trend when he takes the hill for his next start Wednesday in Toronto.

Junis went 6.1 innings Saturday, allowing two runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out seven, but he wasn't a factor in the decision during the Royals' 5-2 win over the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Over his last six starts, Junis has dazzled with a 2.48 ERA, 34 strikeouts and only two walks in 36.1 innings. He has quickly become a popular deep-league fantasy play. Sustaining this run could be tough, however, with his next start coming Thursday against the scorching-hot Indians.

Junis (7-2) collected the win after allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out three across five innings Monday against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Junis has now allowed three or fewer earned runs in all five of his starts since rejoining the rotation at the beginning of August, a stretch over which he's picked up four wins and owns a healthy 2.40 ERA and 27:1 K:BB. Despite his recent success in the rotation, Junis remains on a pitch limit; he's failed to complete six innings or toss 80 pitches in each of his previous three outings. The 24-year-old will look to keep things up in his next scheduled start, which is set for Saturday against the Twins. With the Royals keeping an eye on his pitch count, Junis' value will be limited down the stretch.

Junis (6-2) picked up the win against the Rays on Tuesday, giving up only one run on three hits over 5.2 innings while striking out eight.
EDGE Analysis
The eight Ks were a career high for the rookie, but despite his success Junis got an early hook from manager Ned Yost when he ran into a bit of trouble after throwing only 73 pitches (47 strikes). Junis has now won four straight decisions since rejoining the Royals in late July, posting a 2.86 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 29:2 K:BB in 28.1 innings over that six-start stretch, but as yet he doesn't seem to have earned Yost's trust to work his way out of jams, which could make it tough to keep getting into the win column. The right-hander will next take the mound Sunday in Minnesota.

Junis gave up one run on seven hits and one walk while striking out seven over 5.1 innings in a no-decision against the Rockies on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Junis' slider was working well in this one and that allowed him to maximize his 79 pitches. The 24-year-old gave up four runs in a relief appearance last week, but he's now allowed four runs total in his last three starts spanning 19.1 innings, with an impressive 16:1 K:BB over that span. He's looking like a worthwhile addition for pitching-needy teams, especially with a home matchup against the Rays lined up for next week.
