Junis took the no-decision Sunday, allowing just one run on three hits in six innings in the 8-2 loss to St. Louis. He struck out eight batters in the no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
Junis fanned eight batters and allowed only one run for the second straight start, dropping his season ERA from 5.12 to 4.82 during that span. Unfortunately, he took a no-decision in both of those outings as well. He'll carry an unsightly 6-11 record into Friday's start against the White Sox in Chicago.

Junis (6-11) got the win Wednesday, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five over 5.2 innings against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Junis allowed a home run on the first pitch he threw all night but settled in from that point on, not allowing another run until the sixth inning with Kansas City already ahead by nine. Even with the relatively easy win, the four earned continues a troubling stretch for the 25-year-old, as he's posted a 7.84 ERA over 41.1 innings in his last eight starts and has allowed 14 home runs in that span. He'll take a 5.12 ERA into Monday's tilt against the Cubs.

Junis (back) was activated off the 10-day disabled list ahead of Saturday's game against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Junis returns from a brief stint on the disabled list with lower-back inflammation after allowing 28 earned runs - including 12 home runs -- across his previous 27 innings. The 25-year-old will hope to regain his early-season form against the Twins, as he had a 3.62 ERA and 1.13 WHIP through his first 12 starts.

Junis (back) will be activated from the 10-day disabled list ahead of his scheduled start Saturday against the Twins, Max Gelman of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Royals manager Ned Yost suggested prior to the All-Star break that Junis would be ready to go for the second half, so it's not surprising that the right-hander will be ready to take the hill over the weekend. After emerging as the Royals' top starter early in the season with a 3.62 ERA over his first 12 starts, Junis imploded in his final five outings prior to hitting the shelf with back inflammation. Junis has surrendered 28 earned runs -- including 12 home runs -- over his last 27 innings.

Royals manager Ned Yost said Sunday that Junis' back injury isn't considered serious, but the right-hander isn't expected to be activated from the 10-day disabled list until after the All-Star break, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Junis was scratched from his scheduled turn in the rotation Sunday against the Red Sox and was placed on the DL after being diagnosed with lower-back inflammation, resulting in long reliever Heath Fillmyer picking up his first MLB start. With Junis having posted an 8.13 ERA over his six outings since June, Yost likely reasoned that the second-year pitcher could probably benefit from a more extended rest while healing up from the back injury. The Royals have an open date in the schedule Thursday and are expected to move Fillmyer back to the bullpen and get by with a four-man rotation until after the break.

The Royals placed Junis on the 10-day disabled list Sunday with lower-back inflammation, Maria Torres of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Junis had been scheduled to take the hill for the series finale Sunday against the Red Sox, but that assignment will now fall to long reliever Heath Fillmyer following Junis' surprise move to the DL. It's not clear if Junis experienced the back issue during his last start July 2 against the Indians or if it crept up during a between-starts bullpen session or warmups Sunday. In any case, the injury will likely keep him on the shelf through the All-Star break, as the Royals could get by with a four-man rotation through next weekend following Fillmyer's spot start.

Junis (5-10) gave up eight earned runs on eight hits -- including two homers -- over 5.1 innings in a loss to the Indians on Monday. He struck out two and walked one.
EDGE Analysis
With two more long balls allowed, Junis is now up to 24 homers given up on the season, four more than any other pitcher in baseball (Bartolo Colon and Cole Hamels have both allowed 20). Junis' ERA has ballooned from 3.61 to 5.13 since the start of June, and he's now taken the loss in seven consecutive appearances. The 25-year-old lines up to face the Red Sox at home this weekend.

Junis (5-9) allowed five runs on seven hits in a loss to the Brewers on Tuesday, striking out seven and walking three in five innings.
EDGE Analysis
Junis surrendered four extra-base hits in Tuesday's outing, including three home runs. He's now given up 22 homers on the year, which leads all MLB pitchers. The right-hander is 0-5 in June with a 7.14 ERA and 1.55 WHIP. Junis does still have a respectable 90:27 K:BB in 96.1 innings, but his inability to keep multiple runs off the board of late makes him hard to depend on. His next start will be a matchup with the Indians at home.

Junis (5-8) allowed three runs on five hits and four walks with four strikeouts through six innings in a loss Wednesday against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Junis managed to escape a bases loaded jab in the second inning with just one run allowed, a situation that looked like it could have made his night a lot worse, but the solo home run he allowed to Rougned Odor in the sixth inning put the end to his bid for a victory. Still, this was Junis's first quality start since June 3 after allowing six runs (including six home runs) over his previous two starts. Junis has a decent eight quality starts in 15 outings, but his propensity for blowups has him with just a 4.43 ERA. He'll make his next start Tuesday against Milwaukee.

Junis (5-7) allowed six runs on seven hits in a loss to the Astros on Friday, striking out three and walking one in 5.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Junis surrendered three home runs in Friday's contest, the biggest one being a grand slam off the bat of Evan Gattis that knocked him out of the game. Junis has lost his last four consecutive starts despite having two quality starts in the span. The right-hander holds a respectable 79:20 K:BB in 85.1 innings, but he's surrendered 18 home runs on the year (which ties him for second-most allowed in the majors). He'll look to right the ship in his next start at home against the Rangers.
