Junis (1-2) took the loss after allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out two over 5.1 innings Friday against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Junis gave up a two-run blast in the third inning, a solo homer in the fifth and two more runs in the sixth before exiting the contest with his team down by three. The 26-year-old right-hander has yet to figure things out this season, and he's surrendered four or more runs in each of his last three outings. Following an unimpressive showing, Junis has accrued a 6.26 ERA and 1.54 WHIP with 26 strikeouts over 27.1 frames in 2019.

Junis allowed five runs on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts across 6.1 innings during a no-decision against the Indians on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
After spotting the Indians a 3-0 lead in the first inning, the Royals battled back to take their own three-run lead. However, Junis gave up two more runs in the fourth and then the Royals bullpen allowed the Indians to tie the game in the seventh. Junis is striking out more than one batter per inning, and he's only walked six batters in four starts, but opposing hitters are also hitting .304 versus Junis. He is 1-1 with a 6.14 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 24 strikeouts in 22 innings. His next start will be Friday on the road against the Yankees.

Junis (1-1) allowed four earned runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out six across four innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Junis allowed the Mariners to score at least one run in three of his four innings, and turned in his worst start of the season as a result. He wasn't deceptive on the mound, generating only three swinging strikes and requiring 94 pitches to record his 12 outs. He'll look to rebound Sunday against Cleveland.

Junis posted a no-decision, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out eight and walking three in six innings against the Tigers on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The Royals offense gave their starting pitcher a lead in the first and fifth, but he was unable to hold either one. The good news, though, is Junis is striking out hitters at a high rate early this season. Through two starts, he has 14 strikeouts in 11.2 innings. Junis is also 1-0 with a 4.63 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. His next start will likely be against the Mariners.

Junis (1-0) allowed three runs on six hits and one walk over 5.2 innings while striking out six to pick up the win over the White Sox on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old started the game with five scoreless frames, but allowed three runs on four hits in the sixth primarily due to a three-run homer from Jose Abreu. He currently lines up for a rematch with the Tigers on the road Thursday.

Junis is expected to start the Royals' second game of the regular season March 30 versus the White Sox, Rustin Dodd of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Beyond announcing that Brad Keller would take the hill for Opening Day, the Royals haven't formally outlined their rotation plans to begin the season. Manager Ned Yost did clear things up somewhat Tuesday, however, when he said Ian Kennedy would head to the bullpen, leaving Junis, Jorge Lopez and Homer Bailey to follow Keller in the pitching schedule. Junis had some decent moments in 2018 -- particularly in the second half -- but he served up a whopping 32 home runs in 30 starts to prop up his ERA and WHIP to an underwhelming 4.37 and 1.27, respectively. He hasn't seemed to correct his struggles with reining in the long ball so far this spring, serving up two homers over 12.1 innings.

Junis (9-12) picked up the win Saturday, allowing three runs on eight hits and a walk over six innings while striking out six in a 9-4 victory over Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander finished the year on a high note, delivering quality starts in five of his final six outings and posting a 3.46 ERA and 32:3 K:BB in 39 innings over that stretch. Junis' first full season in the Royals' rotation had its ups and downs, and he'll need to rein in his 1.4 HR/9 if he's going to significantly improve on his 4.42 ERA, but his outstanding control (2.2 BB/9) should have him locked into a rotation spot heading into next spring.

Junis tossed three innings Sunday, allowing four runs on eight hits and a walk in the 9-6 loss to Minnesota. He yielded three home runs and struck out three in the no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
It's actually somewhat impressive that Junis coughed up three long balls and eight hits but only managed to get tagged for four runs. All three homers were solo shots, coming from Max Kepler, Tyler Austin and Johnny Field. The short outing bumped his ERA up to 4.42 in 165 innings this season. He'll look to get back in the win column against Detroit on Friday.

Junis (7-12) got the win Tuesday, pitching a complete game with seven strikeouts again six hits and two runs against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Junis didn't issue a walk for the third time in four starts and was efficient in this one, tossing 104 pitches (68 strikes) en route to his first career complete game. The 25-year-old allowed a run early before yielding a solo blast in the eighth, but he otherwise stifled the Detroit bats for much of the night. He'll round out August with 38:8 K:BB over 36.2 innings and a 2.95 ERA on the month to lower his ERA on the year to 4.53 -- the lowest its been since mid-June. Next up is a road tilt in Cleveland on Monday.

Junis (6-12) got the loss Wednesday, allowing four runs (two earned) on nine hits while striking out five over 5.2 innings against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Junis was hit early and often, allowing at least one runner to reach second base in all six innings of work except the third. Even still, Wednesday marked the fourth straight start in which the 25-year-old conceded two or fewer earned runs, and he's maintaining an impressive 26:5 K:BB across 22 innings in that span. He'll carry a 4.70 ERA and 1.33 WHIP into Tuesday's tilt with the Tigers.
