Junis is working diligently to improve his changeup so that he can bring a legitimate four-pitch arsenal back to the big leagues once recalled, Tony Boone of the Omaha World-Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Junis relies heavily on a fastball-slider combo, but isn't shy to mix in his curveball. To be a top-tier pitcher, though, the ability to throw a consistent changeup is crucial. Junis realizes this development could make or break his role as an MLB starter. The Royals have recalled the 24-year-old five times this season, but most of his innings this year have been logged in 12 starts at Triple-A Omaha. Through 71 innings with the Storm Chasers, Junis owns a 2.92 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with 86 strikeouts.

Junis was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Recent acquisitions Brandon Maurer and Ryan Buchter will be joining the Royals' bullpen ahead of Tuesday's matchup with the Tigers, and as a result, someone needed to be sent off the active roster. Junis ended up being the roster casualty after tossing a scoreless inning of relief in Monday's contest. The 24-year-old right-hander remains one of Kansas City's top pitching prospects, so for now, he'll head back to the Storm Chasers to develop further as a starter.

Junis was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Junis will make a return trip to the big leagues after continuing to impress as a member of the Triple-A rotation. Now that Nathan Karns (forearm) is out for the season, the pitching prospect could be up in Kansas City to take Travis Wood's rotation spot, although there is also a chance that he is simply up to provide more bullpen depth. To make room for him on the active roster, Billy Burns was sent back to Omaha.

Junis was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
After getting knocked around for six runs in six innings Thursday, Junis was sent back to Omaha to make room on the roster for Eric Skoglund. The 24-year-old compiled a 6.00 ERA and 26:12 K:BB in six starts (33 innings) for the Royals. With Danny Duffy (oblique) nearing a return to the rotation, Junis may not see another start with the big club for the foreseeable future.

Junis (2-2) gave up six runs on seven hits (including three homers) and three walks while striking out five over six innings in Thursday's loss to the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Justin Upton's three-run shot put Junis in an early hole, and Junis only dug himself deeper with home runs allowed in the third and fourth innings. It hasn't been pretty for the 24-year-old Junis, who now has a 5.66 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in 35 innings with the big club this season. He may very well lose his spot in the rotation once Danny Duffy (oblique) is cleared to return.

Junis (2-1) pitched 6.1 innings, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four Blue Jays in Friday's no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
It was an admirable performance by the youngster who picked up his second quality start in his last three outings. Junis dealt strikes on 62 percent of his pitches Friday while inducing more groundouts (eight) than flyouts (six) for the first time in any of his starts this year. Although the 24-year-old's ERA (4.97) and WHIP (1.62) won't draw the attention of many, Junis has shown flashes of what makes him an appealing option in dynasty formats. The right-hander is slated to make his next start Thursday at Detroit.

Junis will make his next scheduled start Friday against the Blue Jays, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Ned Yost commented that keeping Junis in the rotation will allow the other rotation members to get an extra day off, which makes it seem like his rotation spot is still in jeopardy once there isn't the added bonus of extra time off. The 24-year-old will look to improve his 5.56 ERA and right the ship against J.A. Happ in the weekend series opener.

Junis gave up five runs on eight hits while striking out six over 5.1 innings Saturday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Cameron Maybin and Albert Pujols both took the rookie deep in his fourth career start. While he is capable of missing bats, his 5.56 ERA and 1.72 WHIP illustrate the ratio damage he can do. If he remains in the big-league rotation, Junis will face the Blue Jays in a home series next weekend.

Junis (2-0) pitched seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six Padres in Sunday's win.
EDGE Analysis
All three runs scored off Junis came via solo home runs (two by Cory Spangenberg), but in the end, it was the rookie's finest performance of the year. After failing to complete five frames in his first two starts, the righty racked up 100 pitches while dealing into the eighth inning. Junis was dominant in seven starts for Triple-A Omaha this season and, albeit against a weak opponent, Sunday's effort looked more in line with what many expect from the top prospect than any of his other MLB games thus far. He'll toe the rubber next against the Angels on the road Saturday.

Junis gave up seven runs on nine hits and three walks over 3.2 innings in Tuesday's eventual win over the Astros. He struck out just one batter.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie was fortunate to be bailed out by a late rally, as this was a disastrous start. He's starred in the minors this year, though, putting up a 2.34 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 57:8 K:BB over 42.1 innings for Triple-A Omaha; those results will keep Junis on the radar in dynasty formats even if he continues stumbling as a starter in the near term.
