Jake Peavy struck out eight while allowing two runs in six innings Friday in a victory over the Mariners.
Peavy evened his record at 6-6. It's just the third time in 16 starts this season that he's pitched as many as five innings and allowed two runs or fewer. But facing the Mariners makes most pitchers look better.

Jake Peavy was blasted by the Rangers Friday, allowing seven runs on six hits and two walks over six innings in a loss.
The Sox spotted Peavy a three-run lead, but he was undone by the longball, with Josh Hamilton taking him deep and Mitch Moreland belting a pair of two-out homers off of him. Peavy has admitted that he's still not quite 100 percent recovered from his shoulder surgery, and it's showed in his results, as he now holds a 5.06 ERA for the season, though that has come with a 1.26 WHIP and solid 74/19 K/BB ratio over 94 1/3 innings. He'll try to bounce back next week in Seattle.

The White Sox have pushed Jake Peavy back to Sunday.
Don't worry, nothing is wrong with Peavy. The veteran right-hander was pushed back to accomodate Zach Stewart, who will start Saturday's game.

Jake Peavy allowed three runs on eight hits in seven innings of work on Monday evening, falling to 4-5 in Chicago's 3-2 loss to the Yankees.
He struck out four while issuing one free pass. Tonight was the first time since May 30 (seven starts) that Peavy was able to complete at least seven innings of work. Now the owner of a 5.13 ERA and 1.30 WHIP, he'll get the Twins in Minnesota this weekend.

He struck out six, walked one and allowed 10 hits. Peavy has allowed 21 runs over his last five starts since his 55-pitch relief outing against the Nationals on June 25. He's 4-4 with a 5.27 ERA and 1.31 WHIP.

Jake Peavy says he has "not felt the same" since his 55-pitch relief outing against the Nationals on June 25.
He allowed just one hit in four scoreless innings after John Danks went down with injury that day, but was lit up in each of his next three starts. It's a foreboding sign for one of the game's most injury prone players, and if you're owner, you should be fully prepared for him to end up back on the disabled list at some point this summer. For now, he's expected to start on Tuesday against the Royals.

The White Sox have pushed Jake Peavy's next start from Sunday to next Tuesday against the Royals.
The move will give Peavy extra time to build strength in his shoulder. The veteran right-hander expressed a lack of velocity and sharpness following his last start before the All-Star break, when he gave up five runs on 10 hits over 4 1/3 innings against the Twins. Phil Humber will move up to take his place Sunday against Detroit.

Jake Peavy may be scratched from his next scheduled start, Sunday in Detroit.
Peavy showed diminished velocity in his last start against the Twins, allowing 10 hits and five runs in just 4 1/3 innings. With his injury history, the White Sox don't want to push it. If he's bumped on Sunday, the right-hander should go Tuesday.

Jake Peavy will see a physical therapist during the All-Star break.
It's the same trainer he worked with over the offseason while rehabbing from surgery to repair a torn lat muscle. Peavy has spent time on the disabled list this season with a groin injury. He is 4-3 with a 5.27 ERA in nine starts and got roughed up by the Twins on Sunday afternoon, allowing five runs on 10 hits and two walks in just 4 1/3 innings of a 6-3 White Sox loss. "I thought physically I'd be able to bounce back better than I have and that's just the bottom line, no ifs, ands or buts about it," Peavy said. "Physically, my body has not bounced back and it's not hard to see out there. I'm throwing 85 to 90 miles per hour with my fastball and my breaking balls just aren't as sharp, can't even strike anybody out with it."

Jake Peavy got roughed up by the Twins on Sunday afternoon, allowing five runs on 10 hits and two walks in just 4 1/3 innings of a 6-3 White Sox loss.
Peavy struck out two in his latest disappointing start. Through his first 54 2/3 innings of work this season, he is now the owner of a 5.27 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. His 42/13 K/BB ratio is solid, but that might not be enough of a reason to hold onto him in shallower mixed leagues if he continues to pitch like this.
