McGee notched his seventh save of the season, pitching a clea in Wednesday's 2-0 victory against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
His 5.59 ERA and 1.66 WHIP are very deceptive as the left-handed closer has been very effective outside of a disastrous outing against the Dodgers on April 24 (five runs and five hits in less than an inning). McGee is 7-for-8 in save chances for his new team and looks like one of the better options at closer in the early goings of 2016.

McGee earned a save for the second straight game Sunday, working around a hit and a walk with one strikeout in a solitary scoreless frame.
EDGE Analysis
The left has responded nicely since a five-run meltdown last week, tossing three straight scoreless frames and picking up a pair of saves in the process. McGee still owns an unsightly 6.23 ERA, but he is 5-for-6 in save situations and should continue to see his fair share of opportunities as the Rockies' top late-inning option.

McGee pitched a scoreless ninth inning while allowing two hits to earn his fifth save Saturday at the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
McGee was given a three-run lead to protect, and after a leadoff single by Paul Goldschmidt, a double play helped him close out the victory. He's now converted five of his six save opportunities in April, but after allowing five runs in that blown save, his ERA sits at 7.04.

McGee struck out one in a clean ninth inning to earn his fourth save of the season Friday versus the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty was scored upon in his season debut, but he has subsequently thrown four scoreless frames and remains perfect in save opportunities. McGee should continue to serve as a solid fantasy reliever for a competitive Rockies club.

McGee worked around a hit with one striekut to nail down his third save of the season Sunday versus the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty was scored upon in his first start of the season, but he has tightened the screws in three subsequent appearances and is 3-for-3 in save opportunities. Colorado's excellent offense should give McGee plenty of chances to rack up saves this season, and he is poised to deliver the steadiness the bullpen has craved since dealing Huston Street away.

McGee gave up a home run to NIck Ahmed in his Rockies debut Wednesday, but escaped with his first save of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Ahmed's homer cut the Rockies' lead to one run, but McGee bounced back and got Jean Segura and Chris Owings to fly out to end the game. With Jason Motte on the DL with a shoulder injury, McGee will have the closer job all to himself over the first several weeks of the season, at least. If he pitches well enough, the lefty McGee should remain the primary option even after Motte's return.

McGee will be Colorado's closer, according to manager Walt Weiss, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
McGee emerged with the role after Jason Motte suffered a should strain that likely has him headed for the disabled list to start the season.

McGee appears set to open the season as the Rockies' closer, with Jason Motte out indefinitely with a shoulder strain, according to the Denver Post's Patrick Saunders.
EDGE Analysis
The two relievers have been competing this spring for the closing duties, but with Motte likely headed for a DL stint to begin the year, the way is clear for McGee to start the year as the team's closer. He could theoretically lose the role if he struggles, but owners can now draft him with a bit more confidence that he will get saves from day one.

McGee, who is competing with Jason Motte to be the Rockies closer, has allowed two runs to go along with four strikeouts and a walk in four innings this spring.
EDGE Analysis
Although the two runs allowed makes his spring ERA look bad, the southpaw is still holding batters to a solid .200 batting average against him. Manager Walt Weiss has yet to name a closer for the club, but the fact that McGee is performing better this spring than the veteran Motte (six runs allowed in 4 innings pitched thus far) could help tip the scales in the 29-year-old's favor.

McGee was traded to the Rockies on Thursday in exchange for Corey Dickerson, the New York Post's Joel Sherman reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is bittersweet, as McGee now has an easier path to saves, but he will have to pitch half his games in Colorado. That said, investing in an elite closer in Colorado is more palatable than using a Rockies starting pitcher, and McGee has the stuff to succeed anywhere. Jason Motte and Chad Qualls were the Rockies' top two options for the ninth inning prior to this deal, but McGee should now be considered the favorite to open the year as the closer, even given his left-handedness. McGee's 32.7% K-rate was 12th best among relievers with 30-plus innings last season, and only five of the names ahead of him are locked into closer jobs this season. He is not a top-10 option at the position, just given team context, but he can be viewed as a solid mid-tier closer in mixed leagues.
