McGee (knee) underwent an MRI on Saturday, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports. The results of the MRI have yet to be disclosed.

According to Groke, McGee tweaked his knee on his final pitch during Friday's relief appearance. His status is to be determined at this point, but if he has to miss time, Jason Motte and Carlos Estevez would be candidates to fill in as the Rockies' closer.

McGee tossed a perfect ninth for his 15th save Wednesday on the road against the Dodgers.

It'd been a while since McGee had seen a save chance, as his last one was way back on May 27. It's stunning that McGee has been so successful this season despite the twin negatives of a huge dip in strikeout rate and pitching in Colorado -- he has an atrocious 1.43 WHIP and just 14 strikeouts in 21 innings. That's quite the massive drop-off from the spectacular 11.1 K/9 he posted in his six seasons wearing a Rays jersey. Nonetheless, he's proven valuable to fantasy owners by converting 15 of 17 save chances while only having one big Coors Field implosion, a five-run disaster against these same Dodgers on April 24 that accounts for the majority of the runs he's surrendered this year.

McGee pitched one-third of an inning to record his 14th save against the Giants on Friday.

EDGE Analysis

McGee recorded the save with only two pitches - both thrown for strikes - as he induced a Kelby Tomlinson pop out to end the game. McGee has been pretty dependable as Colorado's closer, converting 14 of 16 saves opportunities to the tune of a 3.38 ERA.

McGee allowed two base runners and struck out two while picking up his 13th save of the season in Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.

EDGE Analysis

It was the first time the left-hander has walked a batter in eight appearances. McGee is now 13-for-15 in save opportunities this season. He doesn't notch many strikeouts as Tuesday was only the second time he fanned two in a game, but McGee is one of the better options at the position through the early portion of the season.

McGee saved his 12th game of the season Sunday versus the Mets, working around a hit in a scoreless ninth.

EDGE Analysis

The left-hander has been exceptional since his last blown save, converting five straight opportunities in scoreless fashion while allowing just three total baserunners. He has his ERA down to 4.02 after a tough start to the season, and has proven to be a reliable source of saves for his fantasy owners.

McGee earned his 11th save by pitching a scoreless ninth inning while allowing one hit and striking out one Saturday against the Mets.

EDGE Analysis

McGee was given a three-run lead and was able to close out the victory with very little drama. After blowing his second save earlier this month, he's now saved games in his last four outings and lowered his ERA to 4.30.

McGee retired the Mets in order during the ninth to record his 10th save of the season in a 5-2 victory Friday.

The Rockies closer sandwiched a fly ball out with two strikeouts of Neil Walker and Kevin Plawecki to retire the side. McGee threw 11 of his 13 pitches for strikes. He is 10-for-12 in save opportunities with a 4.61 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and eight strikeouts in 13.2 innings.

McGee struck out one while tossing a clean ninth inning, picking up his ninth save of the season.

EDGE Analysis

McGee has struggled in a few outings and blew a save Saturday at San Francisco, but he has protected one-run leads at San Francisco on Sunday and against the D-backs on Wednesday. He ended the game by teasing Goldschmidt into popping to left on a fastball inside and off the plate. After he blew Saturday's save, Rockies manager Walt Weiss gave the ninth inning to McGee again on Sunday. He forced a double play to end a 2-0 victory. Wednesday, he improved to 9-of-11 in saves this season, and 1-for-2 when entering with a one-run lead.

McGee pitched around one hit with one strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning to earn his eighth save of the season Sunday versus the Giants.

EDGE Analysis

The lefty blew his second save of the season Saturday, but he bounced back just a day later to retire the side on 12 pitches. McGee still has an unsightly 5.40 ERA due to an ugly outing in late April, but he has been scored upon just twice in his other 11 appearances and appears to be a solid fantasy option at the moment.

Leading by only one, Giants' Brandon Belt led off the tenth with a triple. McGee was able to force Hunter Pence to line out, but Brandon Crawford singled to tie the game. Although McGee forced the next two batters to ground out, the Giants eventually won in the 13th. McGee is 7-for-9 in save opportunities with a 5.91 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and four strikeouts in 10.2 innings this season.
