McGee, who is competing with Jason Motte to be the Rockies closer, has allowed two runs to go along with four strikeouts and a walk in four innings this spring.
EDGE Analysis
Although the two runs allowed makes his spring ERA look bad, the southpaw is still holding batters to a solid .200 batting average against him. Manager Walt Weiss has yet to name a closer for the club, but the fact that McGee is performing better this spring than the veteran Motte (six runs allowed in 4 innings pitched thus far) could help tip the scales in the 29-year-old's favor.
