McGee was placed on the 10-day disabled list Sunday with a back injury, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is the first news of any sort of recent back injury for McGee. It's possible that the ailment spawned during his outing Tuesday in which he was tagged with the loss after allowing the game-winning run to the Cardinals over 1.2 innings of work. It's unclear how long McGee will be sidelined for, but Zac Rosscup has been recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque to fill the void in the bullpen in the meantime.

McGee (0-1) gave up the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth Tuesday against the Cardinals, landing him with a loss. He pitched 1.2 innings, allowing two hits.
EDGE Analysis
While there have been some stumbles recently -- most notably his three-run misstep against the Padres on July 17 -- McGee has been a solid fantasy asset in leagues that count holds. However, thanks to his lack of a closing gig and the potential for a Coors Field blowup at any time, he's mostly off the radar in standard formats.

McGee entered the All-Star break with a 2.70 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP in 36.2 innings pitched.
EDGE Analysis
This marks a huge step in the right direction after a disastrous first season in Denver. After struggles with command and home runs plagued him last season, McGee has only walked nine batters on the season while serving up just three longballs. The southpaw is entrenched in one of the top roles in the Rockies' bullpen behind closer Greg Holland, and given his strong 10.8 K/9 and consistent use in the later innings, McGee is a solid option in deeper leagues and NL-only formats.

McGee has allowed two runs and thirteen hits across 19 innings since the start of May.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old has a 1.63 ERA and 0.83 WHIP for the season and has earned a hold in six of his last seven appearances. The left-hander has a 10.7 K/9 and 2.0 BB/9 and has stifled right-handed hitters, holding them to a .388 OPS in 63 at-bats. McGee is a key piece of the Rockies bullpen and could see occasional save opportunities if closer Greg Holland is due for a day of rest.

McGee fanned two in a perfect inning of work Wednesday against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Each hitter the southpaw faced in the ninth inning worked the count to 2-2, but McGee managed to finish out the Rockies' win unscathed thanks to a pair of strikeouts by Andres Blanco and Odubel Herrera. This marked the fifth straight scoreless outing for McGee, dropping his ERA to a stellar 2.00 mark on the season while improving his strikeout rate to a career-best 12.5 K/9.

McGee struck out a pair in one inning of work Tuesday against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw had a rough inaugural season with Colorado in 2016, but he's been one of the better arms in an improved Rockies 'pen thus far. Tuesday marked the sixth outing in a row where McGee hasn't allowed a run, which helped to lower his ERA to 2.79 and his WHIP to a stellar 0.83. Better yet, he's showing off his strikeout capabilities that were lacking last season, as he's already racked up 13 whiffs this season. He won't get too many save opportunities as long as Greg Holland continues to shine, but McGee certainly will get his fair share of high-leverage innings moving forward and could log some more holds because of it.

McGee struck out the side to record his first save of the season Friday against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
With just a one-run lead to protect, McGee didn't take any chances by letting the ball be put in play in the hitter-friendly environment that is Coors Field. Although he's not the Rockies regular closer, he likely gained this opportunity against a Dodgers lineup that struggles against left-handed pitching.

McGee (illness) came out of the bullpen Tuesday against the Brewers and gave up a hit to the only batter he faced.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander had previously been dealing with the flu, but he seems to be back to full health as of now. McGee managed to get two quick strikes on Brewers catcher Jett Bandy, but Bandy ultimately scraped a single out to chase McGee from the contest. Despite the inauspicious start, McGee is expected to be relied upon heavily in the later innings of ballgames moving forward.

McGee has missed the last two days dealing with the flu, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
McGee is one of the latest Rockies to get hit with the flu bug that is finding its way around camp. The 30-year-old has already missed a couple days with the illness, but it's unclear how much longer it will keep him out. He should be considered day-to-day until the Rockies note otherwise.

McGee did not allow a run in two-thirds of an inning in Team USA's victory over Team Canada on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander did give up a hit and issued a free pass, but he also fanned another batter en route to helping the Americans progress to the second round of the World Baseball Classic. McGee struggled a bit with command last season and lost some of his strikeout upside, but he'll have a few more opportunities to right the ship on the global stage as the US faces Puerto Rico, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic in San Diego over the next week.
