Lamb isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Lamb served as the Diamondbacks' primary designated hitter over the first several games this year, but he's seen his playing time decrease recently since he's gone just 1-for-18 with a double and eight strikeouts to begin the year. He should be available as a pinch hitter once again. However, Jon Jay will start as the designated hitter and bat eighth.

Lamb is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Lamb started seven of the Diamondbacks' first eight games but now finds himself on the bench for the third straight contest. He's gone just 1-for-16 at the plate, which certainly isn't helping his case for playing time. Christian Walker starts at first base Tuesday, with Daulton Varsho serving as the designated hitter.

Lamb is not in the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Lamb finds himself on the bench for the second straight contest with Clayton Kershaw (back) set to take the mound for Los Angeles. Lamb is 1-for-16 with two walks and eight strikeouts through 19 plate appearances. Eduardo Escobar will serve as the designated hitter Sunday while Ildemaro Vargas starts at third base.

Lamb isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Lamb recently lost a path toward playing time when Christian Walker returned to action at first base and forced Lamb into primarily playing at designated hitter. Walker will serve as the designated hitter Saturday with Ildemaro Vargas starting at first base and batting second.

Lamb started at designated hitter and went 0-for-2 in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
With Christian Walker seemingly over a groin injury, Lamb slides from first base into primarily a DH role. He hit well during summer camp but is off to a slow start in the regular season. With just one hit and eight strikeouts over 15 at-bats, Lamb could be susceptible to losing plate appearances. He's not the only Diamondback slumping to start the season, but manager Torey Lovullo cited the team-wide slump as a factor in calling up prospect Daulton Varsho, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Lamb served as the designated hitter and went 0-for-3 with a walk in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Lamb started three games at first base to open the season while Christian Walker was brought back slowly from a groin injury. On Tuesday, Walker returned to play first base. If Walker's groin holds up, Lamb's opportunities should primarily come as a DH or as a replacement at corner infield against right-handed pitching.

Lamb is not in the lineup Monday against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Lamb started at first base in each of the first three games of the season with a trio of righties on the mound for San Diego but will sit against southpaw Joey Lucchesi in this one. With a career .169/.275/.319 slash line against same-sided pitching, it would be a surprise to see Lamb in the lineup against any lefties this season. Ildemaro Vargas will be the first baseman Monday.

Lamb started at first base in place of Christian Walker (groin) in Fridays' season-opening 7-2 loss to the Padres. He went 1-for-1 with a walk.
EDGE Analysis
Walker was ready to play after dealing with a groin injury the past week, but the Diamondbacks were careful to limit his activity Friday by having him serve as the designated hitter. To get a sense of how Lamb may be used this season, the lefty was lifted for pinch hitter Ildemaro Vargas when San Diego left-hander Drew Pomeranz entered the game in the eighth inning.

Lamb credits a simplification of his swing mechanics for the hot bat he displayed during spring training and still has during intrasquad games, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lamb was asked about adjustments he made during the offseason, and his response focused on the concepts of simplification and timing. "It all just comes down to timing. I feel like I've made it that much easier to time up the pitcher by simplifying my moves. That's where I feel like I'm at right now. I feel like I'm on time, not early, which ultimately allows me to make a good decision on whether it's a strike or ball and whether I want to swing or not," said Lamb. Prior to the pandemic, it was going to be a challenge for Arizona manager Torey Lovullo to find regular at-bats for Lamb, but the adoption of the universal designated hitter for 2020 solves that problem for the manager.

Lamb may serve as the Diamondbacks' primary designated hitter during the 2020 season, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The adoption of a universal DH gives manager Torey Lovullo a tool to give at-bats to Lamb, the lefty hitter who may be the primary DH. Lamb had a promising spring, which presented a challenge for the manager who wanted to get his bat in the lineup. Along with having Lamb as DH, Lovullo can also rotate him at first base and third base as starters Christian Walker or Eduardo Escobar assume the DH role. Kevin Cron is also in the mix as a right-handed complement to Lamb as the DH.
