deGrom (back) will be away from the team for the birth of his baby, but manager Terry Collins said that there are no immediate plans to place him on the paternity list, Adam Rubin of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This doesn't change deGrom's outlook, as he already is expected to miss a start this week due to some lat tightness. Logan Verrett will slot into his spot in the rotation until deGrom's returns and his lat tightness ceases.

DeGrom's lat tightness has improved but not sufficiently enough for him to make his next scheduled start Wednesday against the Marlins, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom will be replaced by Logan Verrett in the rotation but there are no plans now for deGrom to be placed on the disabled list. If the tightness doesn't dissipate during the week, a stint of the disabled list may be in order.

DeGrom (lat tightness) did not play catch Saturday as expected, but is instead scheduled to throw a bullpen session Sunday, which should determine his availability for his next scheduled start Wednesday against the Marlins, MLB.com's Anthony DiComo reports.
EDGE Analysis
The fact that a bullpen session is on tap is encouraging, but it sounds like he wanted another day to try to get right, which suggests there may be some lingering discomfort. There are wide ranging outcomes for deGrom's availability going forward, as he's not out of the woods just yet. Make sure to check on his status following Sunday's session.

DeGrom will not undergo an MRI on his back, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom was experiencing soreness and stiffness Friday, but manager Terry Collisn emphasized that the team was simply exercising caution in removing de Grom from the game. The fact that he'll avoid an MRI is certainly a positive sign, though if the discomfort persists, the Mets could be forced to skip de Grom's turn in the rotation Wednesday.

deGrom (personal) is expected to make his season debut Friday against the Phillies, ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports.
EDGE Analysis
deGrom is in a bit of a holding pattern at the moment as he and his wife await the birth of their child. The expectation is that he'll be able to make his season debut for the Mets' home opener against the Phillies. According to Rubin, if deGrom is not available Friday, Steven Matz or Bartolo Colon would likely fill in as a spot starter.

DeGrom remains in Kansas City with the team, but is awaiting the birth of his child, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom isn't scheduled to pitch on the current road trip, so the possibility of a multi-day paternity leave absence will not affect his current status. He's scheduled to make his first start of the season at home against the Phillies on Friday.

DeGrom threw four scoreless innings Monday but his fastball, usually in the mid-90s, was only in the 91-to-93 mph range, the NY Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom was able to get swings and misses with good life and movement on his pitches as well as get out of sticky situations but the main topic after the outing was the lack of velocity on his fastball. It may just be that the time off due to the groin and back issues have him slightly behind where he normally is. The bigger concern is that his heavy workload last year has taken away a few ticks on the heater. For now, this is just a point of note but one that everyone will be keeping an eye as the spring wears on and into the regular season.

DeGrom is likely to will start the Mets' third game of the season, the team's home opener, Friday, April 8 against the Phillies, the NY Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom was to start the Mets' second game of the season, April 5 against the Royals. But with his wife Stacey due to give birth to the couple's first child that day, Noah Syndergaard will make the start instead. As long as all goes well with the birth, DeGrom should start the third game of the season.

DeGrom (back) will start Thursday's spring game, Adam Rubin of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom had his start pushed back from Monday due to a stiff back, but he was still able to throw a bullpen session, apparently without incident. He allowed one run and struck out three batters over three innings in his first Grapefruit League appearance.

DeGrom (back) experienced no issues while throwing a bullpen session Monday and should make his next appearance Thursday or Friday, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom was scratched from his scheduled spring outing Monday due to soreness in his back, but he was still able to get back on the mound, and experienced "no issues" during his session. Don't expect this week's delay to put much of a damper on his preparation for the regular season.
