Yankees manager Joe Girardi indicated that Ivan Nova (triceps, side) is slated to pitch Monday in Tampa. Nova, currently sidelined with triceps inflammation, experienced discomfort in his upper back while playing catch over the weekend. However, it apparently wasn't a major setback. The assumption is that he'll pitch in extended spring training on Monday, though there's nothing official on that yet. David Phelps will continue to fill his spot in the rotation for now.

Ivan Nova (triceps) felt pain in his left side while playing catch on Sunday. It's not clear how long the new ailment will set Nova back, but it obviously rules the right-hander out for a start during Monday's doubleheader. David Phelps will continue to serve as the Yankees' fifth starter.

Ivan Nova allowed two runs over four-plus innings Wednesday in a start at extended spring training. Nova was only scheduled to throw two innings, but he felt good enough to truly test his right triceps muscle and came out of the start feeling fine. The 26-year-old right-hander is hoping to return for Monday's doubleheader against the Indians, but the Yankees might ask him to make a few more starts down on the farm.

Ivan Nova (triceps) will pitch two innings in extended spring training Wednesday. Nova landed on the disabled list late last month due to right triceps inflammation. Assuming all goes well on Wednesday, he should be cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment. David Phelps will continue to take his spot in the rotation for now.

Yankees placed RHP Ivan Nova on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation. Nova was removed in the third inning of Friday's win over the Blue Jays, but it sounds like he isn't dealing with any structural damage. The Yankees have called up Vidal Nuno to replace him on the active roster, while David Phelps will take his spot in the starting rotation.

Ivan Nova left Friday's start against the Blue Jays in the third inning due to pain in his right elbow. Nova surrendered a pair of runs on four hits over his two-plus innings of work, before sustaining the injury. No word yet on the extent of the injury, or how much time he could potentially miss, but a trip to the disabled list is a very real possibility.

Ivan Nova was removed from Friday's start against the Blue Jays in the third inning with an apparent injury. No word yet on the cause or extent of the injury, but Nova walked off the field with the trainer. The team should release an update on his status shortly. Nova threw 54 pitches in his two-plus innings of work, and allowed one run on four hits, while also remaining responsible for two runners on base.

Ivan Nova was knocked around for four runs on seven hits and four walks over just five frames in Sunday's loss to the Blue Jays. Another disappointing effort. Nova has still failed to record an out beyond the fifth inning this season, and he's given up fewer than four runs on just one occasion. David Phelps would be a candidate to take Nova's rotation spot, but he's also struggled. Nova will try to bounce back next weekend in another chance against the Jays.

Ivan Nova allowed two runs in five innings as the Yankees defeated the Diamondbacks on Tuesday. Nova was hittable -- he gave up seven hits in his five innings -- but limited the damage well enough to get the win. He struck out six batters and has now fanned 11 in 9 2/3 innings. He's an interesting AL-only option, but nothing more for the time being.

Wednesday's game between the Yankees and Indians has been postponed due to rain. No makeup date has been announced. The Indians will skip over Corey Kluber and start Zach McAllister as scheduled on Thursday. Ivan Nova is expected to move back a day, which will allow Phil Hughes an extra day to get over his stomach bug.
