The Yankees are expected to start Ivan Nova during their upcoming series with the Twins. Nova allowed three runs over 6 2/3 innings in his last outing Sunday against the Rays and has earned at least one more start before the Yankees make a decision on his role. "We're looking at the schedule day-by-day and it kind of depends if we need him," manager Joe Girardi said. "But the plan is probably start him in a game in the Minnesota series [which begins Monday night]."

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Ivan Nova could receive another start. Nova struck out seven while allowing three runs over 6 2/3 innings in a spot start versus the Rays Sunday. He'll be unavailable through Thursday but could be used in relief after that or get another start. "It's possible he could get another start here at some point," Girardi said. "I'm not taking anyone out of the rotation, but we're in a long stretch here of 20 games, so it's possible we might put him in there just to give the guys an extra day that way."

Yankees recalled RHP Ivan Nova from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Nova will get a spot start on Sunday against the Rays. He's struggled during his time with the big club this season but earned a promotion due to his 2.04 ERA at Triple-A.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi confirmed Ivan Nova will start Sunday against the Rays. Phil Hughes was the scheduled starter, but would have been pitching on short rest. Nova has 2.04 ERA over three starts with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last month.

Ivan Nova is expected to be recalled to start Sunday against the Rays. No word yet on what the corresponding move will be or who he'll be replacing in the starting rotation. Nova has a 2.04 ERA over three starts with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, so it's a deserved promotion.

Yankees optioned RHP Ivan Nova to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Nova pitched well in relief over the last week, but the Yankees needed to free up a couple roster spots with Kevin Youkilis and Mark Teixeira returning. He could get another shot if David Phelps stumbles.

Ivan Nova allowed one run on five hits and had six strikeouts over five innings in a relief appearance Wednesday against the Mets. After a disastrous start from David Phelps, Nova provided five innings of quality relief. He gave up just one walk and managed to strike out the side on nine pitches in the eighth. With Phelps struggling, Nova could eventually find his way back into the Yankees' starting rotation. He has a 1.50 ERA since returning from the DL.

Yankees activated RHP Ivan Nova from the 15-day disabled list. While Nova is back, it's not clear what his role will be initially. For what it's worth, he's listed among the relievers for Friday's game. Nova has been sidelined since late April with right triceps inflammation.

Ivan Nova (triceps) could be activated from the disabled list early next week. Yankees manager Joe Girardi was vague about a possible timeline for Nova when asked Wednesday, but general manager Brian Cashman said Thursday that he is the closest to returning among the team's injured players. However, it isn't clear whether he'll do so as a member of the starting rotation.

There is no timetable for when Ivan Nova (triceps) will be activated from the disabled list. Nova's triceps doesn't appear to be an issue anymore, but the Yankees don't seem eager to add him to the roster. The righty has already appeared in multiple extended spring games and, according to manager Joe Girardi, "felt good" during a bullpen session Wednesday. "We'll make sure he feels OK and we'll go from there," Girardi said. With Andy Pettitte (trapezius muscle) likely to return soon, Nova might wind up being optioned to Triple-A or being used as a long man.
