Travis (knee) is running the bases for the first time this spring and will hit in a minor league game Friday, John Lott of The Athletic Toronto reports.
EDGE Analysis
The second baseman still has some steps to accomplish before facing Grapefruit League pitching. Fantasy owners should expect at least a small absence to begin the season if Travis can't complete these activities, but despite his injury-prone reputation, the keystoner has made progress.

Travis (knee) will receive at-bats in a minor league game in Clearwater on Tuesday, The Athletic Toronto's John Lott reports.
EDGE Analysis
Josh Donaldson (calf) is also getting some at-bats in Tuesday's minor league game, as both players will rehab against minor league pitching before joining the big league club in Grapefruit League play. Injuries have been the bugaboo with Travis to this stage in his career, as he has always hit when healthy.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said that Travis (knee) would receive at-bats in minor-league games within the next few days, John Lott of The Athletic Toronto reports.
EDGE Analysis
Travis has been slow to recover from offseason knee surgery, but his progression to game action suggests he's nearly back to full health. He's expected to serve as a DH in his first few games of the spring, but until he's able to see some action at second base, Travis should be viewed as questionable for Opening Day.

Travis (knee) is struggling to move laterally and "has good days and bad days", according to manager John Gibbons, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
The injury-prone second baseman has a cloudy outlook for Opening Day availability, though he could erase doubts by suiting up for at least a few spring games. Despite his teases of top-end fantasy production, Travis is best valued for a low-end middle infielder spot in mixed leagues and a cautious risk-reward keystone assignment in AL-only games.

Travis -- who's recovery from knee surgery is taking longer than expected -- is facing the possibility of beginning the season on the disabled list, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager John Gibbons seemed a little surprised at Travis' progress, "I expected him, to be honest, to be a little bit further along than he is," Gibbons said. The skipper went on to acknowledge that his second baseman could lose a "couple weeks" during the season as the team takes a cautious approach with Travis. Darwin Barney's expected to start the season as the Jays' backup infielder. If Travis ends up opening the season on the DL, Barney and Ryan Goins could both open the season on the big-league roster, allowing the team to keep the out-of-options Goins instead of exposing him to waivers.

Travis (knee) is taking batting practice and working in drills, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nicholson-Smith reiterated previous reports that Travis is not yet set for game action. "Hopefully Devon's ready, but we can't guarantee that," manager John GIbbons said in that report. A few dings have cooled the hype on Travis following the splash he made in his brief 2015 big-league debut, and this next hurdle remains worth watching. There's little risk in scooping up the 26-year-old during the late rounds of mixed drafts, but AL-only fantasy players who price him to play something close to a full season are taking an unnecessary risk.

Travis (knee) isn't quite ready for Grapefruit League games as he's still working on his lateral movement, the Toronto Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although Travis said he's pain-free, he still isn't certain that the bone bruise in his right knee is gone. Manager John Gibbons believes Travis has a chance to be one of the elite hitters in baseball, but the young second baseman has been plagued by injuries early in his career. The 26-year-old made his MLB debut in 2014, but underwent surgery the next year which required two screws inserted into his left shoulder which delayed his start in 2016. Travis tweaked his knee in Game 1 of the ALDS last year and was removed from the ALCS roster after the re-aggravating the injury. There's no doubting the talent Travis possesses when healthy, but he's walking the line of being labeled "injury-prone." He's still expected to be ready by Opening Day and hit leadoff for the Jays, but until he begins playing in games, potential owners should proceed with caution.

Travis says he's close to full health after having offseason surgery to remove a flap of cartilage from his right knee, Corey Long of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager John Gibbons said he expects Travis to be ready for full activity sooner rather than later. "We're going to see how he progresses," Gibbons said. "Hopefully it's not too much longer, but you also want to be smart with it, so he doesn't experience any setbacks." Travis said he's not feeling any pain, although he isn't certain the bone bruise is gone. The second baseman expects to increase his lateral movement over the next few days.

Travis will likely enter camp as the Jays' choice to hit leadoff in 2017, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Toronto doesn't seem to have many choices other than to put Travis atop the batting order. He's not a typical leadoff man, but the second baseman has proven to be an above-average hitter with the ability to get on base for the heart of the batting order. The problem is that Travis hasn't found a way to stay healthy. In 2015, it was a shoulder injury that ended his season early. This past year, the shoulder forced a delayed start, and his run in the postseason was eventually cut short by a knee issue. Travis should be at full strength for spring training, but whether he can stay in that condition remains to be seen.

Travis underwent knee surgery Friday, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports. He is expected to be fully ready by spring training.
EDGE Analysis
There was nothing to suggest the procedure was more invasive than the standard arthroscopic surgery. Travis was limited throughout October after an MRI revealed a bone bruise as well a small flap of cartilage caught between the joint in his knee. If healthy, Travis will almost certainly open 2017 as the Blue Jays' starting second baseman.
