Yankees transferred SS Derek Jeter from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
Jeter has already been ruled out until after the All-Star break, so it's just a procedural move to clear a spot for Vidal Nuno on the 40-man roster. The Yankees will continue to go with Eduardo Nunez as Jeter's replacement.

Derek Jeter (ankle) said during a press conference Thursday that he doesn't want to discuss a timeline for his return.
After a CT scan last week revealed a small crack in Jeter's surgically-repaired ankle, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said the new injury would keep him out until after the All-Star break. Jeter acknowledged Thursday that he has a return date in his head, but he isn't willing to reveal it. "I have no doubt I'll be back," said Jeter. "...I'm not giving a timeline. Last timeline I set I didn't make. I don't want to disappoint myself." The 38-year-old doesn't need another surgery, so he's just going to have to wait until his ankle is fully healed. There's little doubt that we'll see him again, but fantasy owners shouldn't count on much from the captain this season.

Derek Jeter will be out until after the All-Star break after a CT scan revealed a small crack in his surgically-repaired ankle.
Terrible news for the Yankees. It's not exactly clear when the new injury occurred, but Jeter hasn't made much progress since his setback in the middle of spring training. The good news is that another surgery isn't required, but he's just going to have to wait for the bone to heal. Eduardo Nunez will continue to fill in at shortstop for now.

Derek Jeter had an unscheduled visit with his ankle surgeon Thursday afternoon in North Carolina.
That doesn't sound good. Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that the club would provide more information later, but when asked whether something happened during Wednesday's workout to cause the visit, he responded with: "Put two and two together."

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Tuesday that Derek Jeter (ankle) has not experienced a setback.
Jeter has scaled back his workload in recent days, but Girardi thinks it's just a matter of him trying to push himself too soon. "Sometimes I think you can take too many ground balls," said Girardi. "They talked about lessening that load a little bit just because he was taking so many. Derek is such a creature of habit, to get him to break a cycle sometimes is difficult. He's going to want to do as much as he can as soon as he can, so we're just trying to make sure he doesn't go too fast. But there was no setback." Regardless of how the Yankees want to classify it, Jeter isn't close to playing in a game. While there was once hope that he would be ready to return around May 1, that appears very unlikely right now.

Yankees manager Joe Girarid said Tuesday that a May 1 return for Derek Jeter (ankle) is very unlikely.
That's the date that Jeter and the Yankees' medical staff had been targeting, but it's simply not feasible anymore. Jeter is taking daily batting practice and fielding grounders at the Yankees' spring training complex in Tampa, Florida but he isn't close to appearing in rehab games. "He'll be back when he's back," said Girardi.

Derek Jeter (ankle) took five rounds of batting practice on Monday and also fielded 21 grounders at shortstop.
He also did some straight-line running in the outfield. Jeter took more grounders during his workouts last Wednesday and Friday, though there's nothing to suggest that he has suffered a setback with his ankle. While a recent report indicated that the Yankees were aiming for the 38-year-old to return around May 1, but he'll need to make some quick progress for that to happen.

Derek Jeter (ankle) has resumed on-field hitting.
Jeter took 32 swings in batting practice Wednesday at the Yankees' minor league complex and also ran for the second consecutive day. How he responds the increased activity will be the real test for his surgically-repaired ankle, but the Yankees are reportedly aiming for him to be activated around May 1.

Derek Jeter (ankle) is scheduled to begin taking batting practice on Wednesday in Tampa, Florida.
Jeter ran sprints on Tuesday and felt fine. He still has to progress to infield work, but the early reports about his rehab have been positive. The Yankees are reportedly targeting May 1 as a possible return date.

According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Yankees are targeting May 1 for Derek Jeter's return.
That's far more reasonable than the mid-April estimates that have been thrown around. Jeter was able to begin playing catch earlier this week but still hasn't done any sort of infield work. He was placed on the disabled list March 31 with discomfort in his surgically-repaired left ankle and remains a risky fantasy bet.
