Yankees activated SS Derek Jeter from the 60-day disabled list.
Jeter is expected to serve as New York's designated hitter Thursday in his 2013 regular-season debut against the visiting Royals at Yankee Stadium. He was 1-for-9 with two strikeouts during his four-game minor league rehab assignment and also had some problems defensively, but the Yanks obviously believe he can be an upgrade right now anyway. Yankees shortstops have hit .211/.269/.283 this season.

Sources told FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal that Derek Jeter (ankle) will rejoin the Yankees for Thursday's game against the Royals.
That's a day earlier that expected. Rosenthal didn't mention in the tweet whether or not Jeter would start the game. Either Alberto Gonzalez or Luis Cruz will be dropped from the roster to make room for him.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Monday that "there's always a chance" Derek Jeter (ankle) could be activated from the disabled list this weekend.
"There's always a chance," Girardi said. "You just have to see how he does the next three or four days." Jeter has looked and felt good in his first two rehab games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and appears to be in line to return just before the All-Star break as long as he can avoid a setback.

Derek Jeter was 1-for-2 with two walks in his second rehab game Sunday at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Jeter served as the designated hitter but was able to test his surgically-repaired ankle on the basepaths, going first to third at one point on a teammate's single. The veteran shortstop might be activated from the 60-day disabled list just before the All-Star break if he continues to display good health in these rehab games.

Derek Jeter (ankle) went 0-for-2 with a walk, and handled the one play hit in his direction during Saturday's rehab game at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
It wasn't a particularly strenuous test of his surgically-repaired ankle, but he made it through five innings without any issue. If all goes well in the next few games, Jeter could conceivably return to the Yankees' lineup before the All-Star break.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi indicated Friday that they haven't ruled out Derek Jeter (ankle) returning before the All-Star break.
Jeter is set to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Saturday. If he performs well in his first few games there, and his surgically-repaired ankle holds up, it's not unthinkable to believe he'll be back in the Bombers' lineup by the end of next week.

Derek Jeter (ankle) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.
Jeter is slated to play five innings at shortstop in his first game. Since he's been out all season, the future Hall of Famer will surely need most, if not all, of the allotted 20 days for his rehab assignment. Both he and A-Rod should be back on the Yankees' left side of the infield before the end of the month.

Derek Jeter (ankle) told reporters on Thursday that he feels ready for minor league rehab games.
"I'm anxious to be playing in games," said the veteran shortstop. "Everything I've needed to do up until that point, I've done. ... I think I'm close." The Yankees should map out a minor league rehab schedule for him soon. Jeter is on track to join New York's active roster shortly after the All-Star break.

Derek Jeter (ankle) ran the bases on Monday.
It's the first time he's done so since the second fracture was discovered in his left ankle. Jeter has also been facing live pitching and fielding grounders and appears poised to begin a rehab assignment soon. He could be activated not long after the All-Star break.
