Uggla has made the Nationals' Opening Day roster, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.
Uggla hit two long balls and slugged .457 over 46 spring at-bats, which was enough to earn him a 25-man roster spot to begin the year. With Anthony Rendon (knee) starting the year on the 15-day DL, Uggla will likely split time with Danny Espinosa while Yunel Escobar moves over to the hot corner. His performance will dictate whether he remains on the roster following the return of Rendon.

Uggla will bat seventh and play second base in the Nationals' final exhibition game on Saturday against the Yankees, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports.
Other than the Nats needing a DH, Saturday's lineup looks to be the one the club will use to kick off the regular season. Uggla will likely only have the starting second base job as long as Anthony Rendon (knee) is on the shelf, but he could provide a short-term power boost from a middle infield spot if he truly is recovered from the vision issues that put his career in jeopardy.

The Nationals are giving Yunel Escobar some work at third base, the Washington Post reports.
Escobar was brought in to be the club's second baseman, but Anthony Rendon's knee injury changes the Nats' infield picture considerably. If the club is comfortable with Escobar at third to begin the season, it could open the door for Uggla to be the starting second baseman, although Danny Espinosa is also still part of the equation.

Uggla is having a solid spring so far, hitting .292/.452/.500 with an impressive 6:3 BB:K ratio in 24 at-bats.
The walks and strikeouts are a great sign that the vision issues that have plagued him the last couple of seasons are a thing of the past. Unless Yunel Escobar's oblique injury forces him to begin the season on the DL there likely won't be any room for Uggla on the Nationals' roster, but he may be playing well enough for another club to give him a chance.

Uggla went 1-for-2 on Friday with a walk, hitting the ball hard in all three of his plate appearances, the Washington Post reports.
The second baseman is trying to get his career back on track after vision problems produced a couple of truly awful seasons. If Uggla demonstrates that he's got something left in the tank, he could catch on with a team looking for some thump in its lineup, but his odds of breaking camp with the Nationals are fairly slim after they traded for Yunel Escobar in the offseason.

Uggla was diagnosed with oculomotor dysfunction in the offseason, stemming from incidents in June 2012 and March 2013 in which he got hit in the head by pitches, the Boston Globe reports.
His vision was dropping from 20/15 to 20/100 whenever he moved his head or body, making it difficult for him to pick up the rotation of a pitch and causing him problems on defense. Uggla has now been declared free of the condition, which if true could make him an interesting dark horse candidate for the Nationals' second base job.

Uggla agreed to terms with the Nationals on a minor league deal, which includes an invitation to spring training.
The veteran played 48 games for the Braves last season, hitting a disappointing .162 with 10 RBI and 40 strikeouts before being released in mid-July. He was picked up by the Giants shortly after but the struggles continued, as Uggla went 0-for-11 at the plate with six strikeouts in just 11 at-bats. The 34-year-old will head to spring training with the Nationals in hopes of winning a roster spot and rejuvenating his career.

The Giants are likely to release second baseman Dan Uggla in the coming days.
A report surfaced Wednesday that the team had already cut ways with the struggling infielder, but Uggla remains a member of the Giants for now. He likely won't be for too much longer, though, as sources have indicated to the San Francisco Chronicle's Henry Schulman that Uggla will be cut loose soon. Uggla is 0-for-11 with six strikeouts and three errors through four games with the club.

Giants released 2B Dan Uggla.
Well, that was quick. Uggla played in just four games for the Giants, going hitless in 11 at-bats and committing three errors in the field. The Giants are rumored to be in the market for a second baseman before the trade deadline. Uggla's release emphasizes that idea.
