C.J. Wilson said after Monday's start that he will undergo surgery this offseason to remove bone spurs from his left elbow.
Wilson said that he has been pitching through the injury for the "last couple of months." He already has a date in mind for the surgery and doesn't see any reason why he wouldn't be ready for spring training next year. Wilson posted a 3.83 ERA and 173/91 K/BB ratio in 202 1/3 innings over 34 starts with the Angels this year and is owed $64 million over the next four seasons.

C.J. Wilson beat the Mariners by allowing three runs -- two earned -- in 6 1/3 innings on Monday.
Wilson struck out seven in his first win in four starts. He was a big disappointment in the season half, but he still finishes the season a respectable 13-10 with a 3.85 ERA. Along with Jered Weaver, he's one of two starters guaranteed to be back in the Angels rotation next year.

C.J. Wilson is expected to remain in the Angels' rotation despite another disappointing start Wednesday.
Wilson, who holds a 6.28 ERA since the beginning of August, had a lengthy closed-door meeting Thursday with manager Mike Scioscia, the second such meeting that's taken place between the two this season. Scioscia said the meeting was "just a strategy meeting to help him get his best stuff back out there on the field. We have a lot of confidence in what he can do. We want him to refine some simple things, without going into details." Jerome Williams tossed 4 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of Wilson Wednesday and would be an option to take his place if the lefty's struggles continue.

C.J. Wilson was pulled after giving up three runs in 2 2/3 innings Wednesday in a loss to the Rangers.
Believe it or not, the Angels had won Wilson's last five starts. He's been quite a disappointment in the second half and he's been particularly bad in his five starts against his old team this year (he's 0-1 with a 7.65 ERA), but he can only be assigned so much of the blame if the Angels fail to reach the postseason.

C.J. Wilson limited the Tigers to an unearned run and four hits over 7 2/3 innings to win Saturday.
Wilson outdueled Justin Verlander in the 6-1 game. While he's now won three straight after a nearly two-month drought, tonight's performance was easily his best since June. He hadn't pitched more than seven innings since June 8 or allowed fewer than two runs since June 26.

C.J. Wilson dealt with a small blister on his left middle finger during Monday's start against the Athletics.
Wilson allowed two runs over five innings in Monday's win. He had a similar issue around the All-Star break. It shouldn't impact his availability for his next start this weekend against the Tigers.

C.J. Wilson won a second straight start after allowing two runs in five innings Monday against the A's.
The Angels certainly don't want Wilson to think of himself as a five- or six-inning pitcher going forward, but at least his last two outings have been a modest improvement following his 11-start winless streak. He allowed five hits, walked two and struck out three while throwing 89 pitches today.

C.J. Wilson turned in just his second quality start in six August outings in Wednesday's 10-3 win over the Red Sox, allowing three runs on eight hits in six innings.
Wilson struck out four and walked two in what could hardly be considered a sparkling outing, but it wasn't a bad night considering he entered this evening the owner of an 8.78 ERA through 26 2/3 August innings. Wilson's ERA is still a nightmarish 6.56 ERA in 59 frames since the All-Star break, however. Wilson will get the ball in game one of Los Angeles' critical three-game set in Oakland on Monday.

C.J. Wilson was hammered again in a no-decision against the Red Sox on Thursday, surrendering seven runs (six earned) on eight hits over his five frames.
Wilson did manage to rack up six strikeouts while failing to issue a walk in the rough outing. The Red Sox struck for one in the first inning, then added five more in the second, highlighted by a three-run homer off the bat of Dustin Pedroia. Wilson was able to settle in after that, allowing just a Cody Ross RBI single over the next three frames to somewhat mitigate the disastrous start. He's now allowed 13 earned runs over his last two starts, raising his ERA from 3.32 to 3.83 in the process. While there is no indication of any underlying physical ailment contributing to his recent struggles, fantasy owners may want to sit him down and avoid the ratio risk until he demonstrates the ability to turn things around. He'll attempt to do just that when he battles these same Red Sox at home on Wednesday.

C.J. Wilson was lit up for seven runs in 4 2/3 innings by the Rays on Saturday.
The Rays had already hammered Dan Haren and Jered Weaver, so Wilson simply joined the crowd. Still, it's another discouraging outing for a guy who hasn't won in nearly two months. Odds are that he'll turn it around soon, but one wonders if it will be too late for the Angels.
