Headley has hit safely in seven of nine games, but let's not sugarcoat this: It's been a sluggish start. The veteran third baseman is slashing just .204/.288/.340 with six homers and 23 RBI over 55 games. His average is up from .195 since the aforementioned nine-game "hot" streak started, if you're the kind of guy who sees the orange juice filling up half your morning cup.

Headley has looked good in three games since returning from the disabled list, socking two homers and knocking in four runs. The third baseman has shown diminished power since a breakout 2012, but the fourth-place Padres are certainly counting on Headley finding himself again before he bolts to free agency after the season.
