Chase Headley hit a three-run homer and walked twice Saturday in his return from the disabled list. The Padres need this to be a sign of things to come from Headley. Even after back-to-back big days against the Marlins, they still have four guys in their lineup hitting below the Mendoza Line (Headley, Will Venable, Jedd Gyorko and Yonder Alonso).

Padres activated 3B Chase Headley from the 15-day disabled list. Headley wound up missing 14 games (exactly 15 days) with a strained right calf. He was batting just .186/.250/.314 in 20 games before the injury, continuing what seems to be a steady career decline. The 30-year-old third baseman is scheduled to become a free agent this winter.

Chase Headley (calf) went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBI, and a walk Monday in his first rehab game with High-A Lake Elsinore. Headley is eligible to come off the disabled list Saturday and all signs point to him being ready by then. The 29-year-old is batting just .186/.250/.314 with two homers and seven RBI through 20 games this season, but he should be picked up in most of the leagues where he was dropped.

Chase Headley (calf) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with High-A Lake Elsinore on Monday. Barring any setbacks, he'll return to the Padres on May 10, the first day that he's eligible to do so. He'll return to a disappointing .186/.250/.314 line with two homers and seven RBI that he posted through his first 20 games.

Chase Headley (calf) has already resumed full baseball activities and expects to return from the disabled list on May 10, the first day he's eligible. Headley suffered a strained calf while running out of the batter's box during Thursday's game last week, but it appears that he's already over the issue. Fantasy owners can expect to have him back next weekend.

MLB.com's Corey Brock reports that the Padres are "encouraged" by Chase Headley's (calf) progress. Brock tweets that the feeling he's getting is that the third baseman's DL stint "won't exceed the 15 days or if it does it won't be by much." Headley strained his right calf while leaving the batter's box during Thursday's game. He's eligible to return on May 10?

Padres placed 3B Chase Headley on the 15-day disabled list with a right calf strain. Headley suffered the injury during Thursday's game against the Nationals while leaving the batter's box. He expects to be sidelined for 2-3 weeks. Alexi Amarista and Jace Peterson will handle third base while Headley is on the shelf.

Chase Headley (calf) expects to miss "two or three weeks" of action. Headley strained his right calf while leaving the batter's box during a flyout in the second inning of Thursday's game. Contrary to previous reports, it's actually not the same calf he strained in spring training when he was out a month, and he said this injury isn't as bad. Headley has also been nursing a sore left knee and a mild biceps strain. "My guess is it's not as severe as that was," Headley said. "I expect it to be two or three weeks. I guess the silver lining is it will help the rest of my body heal." Alexi Amarista is expected to handle the bulk of the playing time at third base while Headley is out.

Chase Headley left Thursday's game against the Nationals with a right calf strain. It's the same injury he dealt with for nearly a month during spring training. The severity of the strain isn't known yet, but it sure seems like something that will probably send him to the disabled list. Alexi Amarista took over at third base for Headley on Thursday.

Chase Headley left Thursday's game against the Nationals in the second inning with a possible knee injury. Headley appeared to tweak his knee as he came out of the box during a flyout in the top of the second inning, and he didn't take the field for the bottom of the frame. The Padres should provide an update on the third baseman's status before long.
