Headley went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts in Tuesday's loss to the Rays.
Headley's output this season more closely resembles the totals he put in the first half of 2014 before getting traded midseason, as he's slashing just .234/.284/.379. The Yankees were hoping he could continue his hot second half when they re-signed him over the offseason, but Headley has at least flashed decent power, hitting four home runs to go along with four doubles and a triple.

Headley (back) is in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Meredith Marakovits of the YES Network reports.
Headley sat out Tuesday's game due to a sore back, but he will return to action Wednesday night. Headley will man the hot corner as he usually does and hit seventh against Blue Jay starter Mark Buehrle.

Headley wasn't available Tuesday due to a sore back, The Westchester Journal News reports.
Gregorio Petit got the start at third, but after suffering an injury of his own, the Yankees elected to put Alex Rodriguez in as his replacement rather than Headley. It doesn't appear to be anything more than a minor issue, and Headley appears set to return to the lineup for Wednesday's game, but it could be a situation worth monitoring if he's held out again.

Headley is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays.
Headley is likely just getting a rare day off, allowing Gregorio Petit to start at the hot corner. Headley has now started 24-of-27 games at third base this season.

Headley is not in the lineup Monday against the Rays.
Headley has been given just one day off thus far this season, so it appears manager Joe Girardi is just giving his third baseman a regular rest day. Alex Rodriguez will take over at third, batting third in his stead as Carlos Beltran will fill in at designated hitter.

Headley went 1-for-4 with a single in Friday's win over the Mets.
Headley has gotten off to a bit of a slow start as he's slashing just .242/.306/.379 in 17 games. He's launched two homers, but each came in the opening week, leaving the third baseman with just a pair of extra base hits in the following two weeks. Headley's slash line is similar to his 2014 output, but his numbers improved after the Yankees acquired him mid-season, and were hopeful that he could benefit from a full season playing at Yankee Stadium.

Headley will bat second Tuesday against the Orioles, Newsday's Erik Boland reports.
X-rays on Brett Gardner's wrist were negative, but the outfielder will miss at least one start and it will be Headley who jumps up to fill his spot in the batting order. Headley has struck out all three times he's faced right-hander Miguel Gonzalez, Tuesday's starter for Baltimore.

Headley is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
Headley has yet to sit this season, so it appears it's just a regular day off for the third baseman. Alex Rodriguez will make his first start at third this season, batting fifth as he fills in for Headley.

Headley is hitting 2-for-11 with no extra base hits after his first series against the Blue Jays.
The 30-year-old's $52 contract seemed like a low reward for New York and this doesn't do anything to change that. If the Yankees want to rotate more players in at DH and Alex Rodriguez starts hitting, Headley's everyday role could be in trouble.

Headley is hitting .313/.371/.563 with two home runs in 12 games of Grapefruit League action.
Headley re-upped with the Yankees in December despite the return from suspension of Alex Rodriguez, and since then the 30-year-old has been treated as the everyday third baseman. The team will likely try to get Rodriguez some extra at bats by occasionally playing him at the hot corner, but Headley should once again be a safe bet to be the regular option there. The switch hitter experienced an uptick in his production after getting traded midseason last year, slashing .262/.371/.398 in the Bronx, and will likely benefit from a full season in a hitter-friendly park.
