Carlos Quentin (knee) could return to the lineup Friday. Good to hear. Quentin has been out of action all week after feeling some soreness in his twice-surgically-repaired right knee, but the Padres haven't seemed overly concerned. He'll be fine by Opening Day as long as he avoids a setback.

Carlos Quentin (knee) took batting practice Wednesday for the second day in a row, but there is no timetable for his return. Quentin was scratched from Monday's lineup with mild discomfort in his right knee, which is the same knee he's had surgery on twice over the last year. The Padres haven't indicated that they're concerned yet, but obviously this is a situation that warrants monitoring.

Carlos Quentin was scratched from Monday's lineup with mild discomfort in his right knee. The Padres are downplaying it for the time being, but it's the same knee Quentin has had operated on twice over the last year, so we can't take it too lightly. For now, the outfielder should be considered day-to-day, but it's certainly a situation to monitor.

Carlos Quentin (knee) will likely make his Cactus League debut as the designated hitter Friday against the White Sox. Quentin was originally expected to make his spring debut early next week, so he's a bit ahead of schedule. The 30-year-old is being brought along slowly this spring following arthroscopic knee surgery, but he shouldn't need many at-bats to get ready.

Carlos Quentin (knee) could make his Cactus League debut as early as next week. Quentin is being brought along slowly following arthroscopic knee surgery, but he should have plenty of time to get ready for the season. The 30-year-old remains an injury risk, but his pop should make him relevant in mixed fantasy leagues.

Carlos Quentin (knee) is 7-10 days away from Cactus League action. The Padres are taking it slowly with Quentin this spring after he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery at the end of last season. He's expected to be used in the DH spot initially this spring but isn't in danger of missing Opening Day.

The Padres plan to limit Carlos Quentin (knee) early in spring training. Quentin underwent arthroscopic knee surgery at the end of last season and has yet to be cleared for full baseball activities. While there's no timetable for him to make his Cactus League debut, he remains on track to be ready for Opening Day.

Carlos Quentin underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Friday, and he's expected to be fully recovered by the start of spring training. Quentin had a first surgery on the knee in March, but dealt with lingering soreness throughout the season, ultimately shutting him down on September 19. He has dedicated himself to improving his offseason training regimen and vows to come back stronger than ever next season.

Carlos Quentin will undergo another arthroscopic surgery on his right knee this offseason. The procedure should take place shortly after the season ends. Quentin had surgery on the knee back in March, but soreness has kept him from playing the field since September 19. The outfielder is expected to be 100 percent for spring training. "My training regimen, I'll change some of that, some of it will be weight loss, some of it will be rest," he said. "But it will all be geared toward staying on the field."
