Carlos Gonzalez (finger) will try to take batting practice Friday.
He was unable to do so Wednesday due to his sprained right middle finger. Gonzalez was activated from the disabled list Tuesday but is limited to being a defensive replacement at this point. It's possible that will be his only role for the rest of the season. "It's so frustrating," said Gonzalez. "But it's all I can do right now."

Rockies activated OF Carlos Gonzalez from the 15-day disabled list.
Gonzalez is available to play defense and pinch-run for the Rockies on Tuesday, but he still can't hit due to ongoing discomfort in his right middle finger. He might not play very often over the season's final month.

Carlos Gonzalez will not undergo an MRI after being scratched from Monday's rehab appearance due to ongoing back in his sprained right middle finger.
The Denver Post's Troy Renck said the pain in CarGo's finger isn't any worse than before, but it was just feeling too stiff to play with Monday. He'll be re-evaluated in Denver on Tuesday before the Rockies determine whether he might return sometime later this month.

Carlos Gonzalez (finger) was a late scratch from Monday's rehab game at Triple-A Colorado Springs.
It's not clear at this point if CarGo's finger is acting up again or if the Rockies just decided he's ready to go. They had been hoping Gonzalez would return on Tuesday. An update on his status should be forthcoming.

Carlos Gonzalez (finger) went 0-for-3 during his first minor league rehab game with Triple-A Colorado Springs on Saturday.
Gonzalez did reach base on an error during his second at-bat, but was then picked off first base. He'll play two more games with the Sky Sox, and if all goes well he will return to the Rockies lineup on Tuesday.

Carlos Gonzalez (finger) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Saturday with Triple-A Colorado Springs.
CarGo is slated to play seven innings on Saturday and full games on Sunday and Monday. If all goes well, he will rejoin the Rockies on Tuesday. It may take until the offseason for his finger to get back to 100 percent, but he's still capable of being a difference-maker for fantasy owners in September.

Carlos Gonzalez (finger) hit four home runs -- including two into the upper deck -- at Coors Field during batting practice Tuesday.
It was the first time he's taken BP since going on the DL August 5 with a sprained tendon on his right middle finger. CarGo said he still feel a little pain, but it's much better and he thinks he'll be ready for a rehab assignment soon. "I want to go on a rehab as soon as I can . probably in a few days," said Gonzalez. "Let's see what (the Rockies) want to do, but I want to play. We will wait and see where they send me."

Carlos Gonzalez (finger) took 30 swings in the cage on Monday.
It's a step in the right direction for CarGo, who hasn't played in over three weeks. The next step calls for him to hit on the field, which could happen as soon as Tuesday. While he will likely require a rehab assignment, it looks like he will be back to help fantasy owners for the stretch run.

It will be his first time taking batting practice since he was shut down with a strained right finger earlier this month. If all goes well, CarGo should be activated at some during the team's upcoming nine-game homestand.
