Carlos Gonzalez went 2-for-4 and homered for the Rockies' lone run Monday against the Marlins. Gonzalez hit a no-doubt homer on what wasn't a bad pitch from Jose Fernandez. It was his first since last July 20.

Carlos Gonzalez belted his first home run of the Cactus League season as the Rockies and Angels played to a 4-4 tie on Saturday. CarGo finished the afternoon 1-for-2 and also walked. His two-run blast came off Angels starter Jered Weaver in the first inning. He's now hitting .318 (7-for-22) with a homer and four RBI this spring.

Carlos Gonzalez finished 2-for-3 with a double against the Padres on Monday. Gonzalez is now hitting .429 with four doubles on the spring. He will be aiming to cross the 600 plate appearance threshold for the first time since 2010. If he can do that, he may find himself back in the NL MVP discussion, as he is one of the game's most dynamic players.

Carlos Gonzalez singled and walked in his only two plate appearances Friday, helping to lead the Rockies to an 11-0 rout over the Diamondbacks in Cactus League action. Gonzalez manned left field as expected, which is where he'll spend the entire 2014 season for the Rockies. He's clearly one of the most dynamic talents in the league, and would be a surefire top-five selection in every fantasy draft if only he had the ability to remain on the field throughout the season.

Rockies manager Walt Weiss announced Saturday that Carlos Gonzalez will remain in left field for the upcoming season. The battle for the starting job in center field will come down to Drew Stubbs, Corey Dickerson and Brandon Barnes. Remaining in left instead of shifting to a more physically demanding position should help to keep the oft-injured Gonzalez on the field throughout the 2014 season.

Carlos Gonzalez said Friday that he would be fine with moving to center field as long as that remains his spot. Gonzalez noted that he doesn't want to be bounced around between two spots. "That's something I did early in my career and it was affecting me physically and mentally. So I'm ready to play in one position and whatever position is good, either center or left." Blessed with unspeakable talent, the only thing preventing CarGo from being a perennial top-five pick in fantasy leagues universally is his propensity for injury.

Rockies manager Walt Weiss said Monday that it's possible Carlos Gonzalez will stay in left field. The Rockies would like to move CarGo to center, and that remains the plan for now, but Weiss has reserved the right to change his mind. What the skipper is sure about is that, once they pick a position for Gonzalez, he'll stay there. "That'll be a popular question this spring," Weiss said. "We've got him in center right now. That's the plan. We have a lot of options in the outfield. We have a lot of flexibility. We have a lot of good players competing out there. We have a lot of options in center field. I understand that. In the end, it all comes down to who gives us the best chance to win -- offensively, defensively. We're not going to bounce [Gonzalez] around. That's not to say we won't change our minds [about him in left or center]."

Carlos Gonzalez is "way ahead of schedule after appendectomy and hernia surgery," Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports. CarGo had the emergency surgery on January 11 and was cleared for physical activity less than two weeks later. With Dexter Fowler gone, Renck said the 28-year-old could conceivably play in center field this year, a position he hasn't played since 2011, but Rockies manager Walt Weiss expressed a desire to give some other candidates a shot this spring in hopes of keeping Gonzalez in left -- and keeping his legs fresh this season. Whether it's in left or center, it looks like CarGo should be ready to roll for Opening Day.

Carlos Gonzalez (appendectomy) was cleared for physical activity after a check-up Thursday. Gonzalez underwent an emergency appendectomy a little under two weeks ago, but it shouldn't set him back too much in his offseason training program. The 28-year-old was limited to just 19 games after the All-Star break last year due to a sprained right middle finger, but it's not expected to be an issue going in 2014.
