The Athletics have announced that Brett Anderson underwent Tommy John surgery. Awful news. Anderson has been sidelined since early June with what was termed as elbow soreness. He was even given a platelet rich plasma injection in an effort to avoid surgery, but clearly he hasn't progressed as hoped. The talented young left-hander is officially droppable in standard mixed leagues. We won't see him again until late-2012 or perhaps 2013.
