Andre Ethier (oblique) is not in Sunday's lineup against the Mets.
It's the fourth game Ethier has missed since leaving Wednesday's game with a left oblique strain and he's also pulled out of the Home Run Derby. Prior to the injury, Ethier had been slumping terribly in the month of June, batting just .218 with one homer and 11 RBI in 25 games. It sounds like he will avoid a trip to the disabled list. Ethier said over the weekend that he thought he would return to the lineup on Sunday or Monday.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Thursday that Andre Ethier (oblique) is considered day-to-day for now.
Ethier left Wednesday's game with what was described as a left oblique strain, but Mattingly said it's on the "good side." The Dodgers could eventually make a move if his condition doesn't improve in the coming days, but it's sound like he'll avoid the disabled list for now.

Andre Ethier has been diagnosed with a left oblique strain.
Ethier suffered the injury during Wednesday afternoon's game against the Giants. Oblique strains typically require more than two weeks of rest, meaning the 30-year-old outfielder is likely headed for the disabled list. He's currently batting .291/.357/.491 with 10 homers and 55 RBI.

Andre Ethier doubled home the Dodgers' lone run in the first inning of Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Angels.
The Dodgers' $85 million man tagged C.J. Wilson for his 20th two-bagger of 2012. He's now driven in runs in four straight contests, and an impressive 55 in 63 games. He's hitting .291/.352/.511.

Dodgers signed OF Andre Ethier to a five-year, $85 million contract extension.
The contract was made official during a press conference Tuesday afternoon. The deal includes a $17.5 million vesting option for 2018 or a $2.5 million buyout. It's a big chunk of change for Ethier, who is hitting .287/.348/.509 with 10 homers, 53 RBI and an .856 OPS through 61 games this year. While he should remain a productive player in the short-term, the Dodgers are paying him big money for his age 31-35 seasons. Chances are he's the best he will ever be at this very moment.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Dodgers and Andre Ethier have agreed to a five-year, $85 million contract extension.
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com was first to report that the two sides were close to a deal. The contract also includes a $17.5 million vesting option for a sixth year or a $2.5 million buyout. If the option is picked up or vests, it becomes a six-year, $100 million deal. The option vests if he hits a specific number of plate appearances from 2016-17. The timing was just right for Ethier, who got off to a hot start just as the new Dodgers' ownership took over. He was primed to reach free agency this offseason, but he's now signed from his age 31-35 seasons.

Andre Ethier hit a grand slam in Sunday's 8-2 win over the Mariners.
Ethier's second-inning shot off of Blake Beavan was his only hit in five trips to the plate. Ethier is just 5-for-38 (.132) in June, but has managed to drive in eight runs.

According to MLB.com, the Dodgers have yet to make any progress on a long-term extension with Andre Ethier.
There was speculation that a deal might be close with Ethier's agent in Seattle this weekend, but apparently his agent was in town because he represents Mariners pitcher Jason Vargas, not to negotiate a new deal. ''Nothing's changed, they haven't made anything that I'm aware of,'' Ethier said. ''Mutually, both sides want me here. I hope we continue what we're doing right now."
