Dodgers manager Don Mattingly confirmed that Andre Ethier (knee) is done for the season. Ethier is scheduled to see Dr. James Andrews on Friday to get a second opinion on his ailing right knee, but he's apparently done either way. The 29-year-old outfielder recently told the Los Angeles Times that he has played through pain all season along and that the knee would require offseason surgery. Ethier has just two homers and a .672 OPS since the All-Star break, so this isn't much of a loss for fantasy owners, anyway. He finishes the year with a .292/.368/.421 batting line to go along with 11 homers, 62 RBI and a .789 OPS over 551 plate appearances. While the Dodgers could decide to shop him over the winter, we will likely see plenty of Juan Rivera and Jerry Sands in the outfield corners for the rest of September.

Andre Ethier is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup Thursday for the first game of a doubleheader against the Nationals. Juan Rivera will make the start in right field while Jerry Sands plays left. Assuming the weather allows them to play, look for Ethier to return for the second game.

Andre Ethier went 2-for-5 with a double, four RBI and a run scored in a victory against the Nationals on Tuesday. He has 10 RBI over his last five starts and has played very well since controversy last month followed his comments in the Los Angeles Times about his sore right knee. Ethier is batting .292/.368/.421 on the year with 62 RBI.

Andre Ethier went 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored in a victory against the Padres on Tuesday. He's collected back-to-back three-hit games since returning Monday -- producing two extra-base hits and five RBI -- after sitting out Sunday's game because of a sore right knee. The injury, of course, became the subject of much controversy last weekend following his comments in the Los Angeles Times. It appears that Ethier is feeling just fine following a meeting Dodgers' management on Sunday. If you had the foresight to keep him in your lineup this week, you've already been rewarded handsomely.

Andre Ethier (knee) is back in Monday's lineup against the Padres. Ethier sat out Sunday's game because of a sore right knee. The injury became the subject of much controversy this weekend following his comments in the Los Angeles Times, though the outfielder had a decidedly different stance following a meeting Dodgers' management on Sunday.

Andre Ethier met with Dodgers management on Sunday to discuss his knee and his comments in a column for that day's LA Times. In the column, Ethier said he's played with an injured right knee all season long. "It's only going to get worse from this point," he said. I've dealt with it all season long, but as the season goes on my body wears down. That's just the way it is - I keep getting put in the lineup, so what am I supposed to do?" Said Mattingly: "I got kind of blindsided by this. That's taking a shot at my integrity, at the organization and training staff and Ned -- and personally that I would put a guy out there that was hurt and risk his career. I'd never do that. That's not in my DNA. I'd rather lose my job than put a guy out there with the chance to hurt himself or his career in a long-term way." Ethier was out of the lineup on Sunday and seemed surprised that he wasn't playing. "It's always been my choice to keep playing," Ethier said. He also backed off the comments he made in the LA Times and said he wanted to remain with the organization.

Andre Ethier said he's played with an injured right knee all season long. Ethier says the knee is "only going to get worse" and will require offseason surgery. Interestingly, though, GM Ned Colletti seems to doubt that the outfielder is really injured. "What am I supposed to be concerned about?" Colletti said. "That he has those numbers [since the All-Star break], that he's hurt or contends he's hurt?" Ethier referred to an inquiry as to why the floundering Dodgers don't just shut him down as "a million dollar question." The 29-year-old has previously questioned his future with the organization, and it appears his relationship with the club isn't in great shape. It wouldn't be surprising if he's shopped over the winter.

Andre Ethier is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Cardinals. It's not clear if he is just getting a day off against the left-hander or if his toe is giving him problems again. Juan Rivera will make the start in right field Wednesday.

Andre Ethier is batting just .233 with one home run in 120 at-bats since the All-Star break. Ethier has been bothered for the past week by an infected big toe, but that doesn't exactly provide an excuse for all of his second-half struggles. A .291/.363/.480 career hitter, he's rocking an uninspiring .784 OPS through 123 games this season. Perhaps he'll finish strong.
