Wainwright (9-6) allowed six runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out three over six innings to take the loss Sunday against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright was blasted for three runs in each of the first two innings he pitched before settling down to close out his day with four innings of shutout ball. After having a terrific five-start stretch in July, he's now failed to post a quality start in each of this last three outings to raise his ERA to 4.34. His 2016 ERA is currently 0.4 points higher than any ERA he's posted in a season since becoming a starter in 2007.

Wainwright lasted just five innings Tuesday in a start against the Reds, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
The outing was unusually short for Wainwright, who is typically able to pitch deeper into games due to his exceptional strike-throwing capabilities. But Wainwright threw just 60 of 101 pitches for strikes Tuesday, and the five innings matched his shortest outing of the season. Though of no use to most fantasy owners, Wainwright helped himself out by hitting his second homer of the season, a third-inning blast off Reds starter Dan Straily. The Cardinals went on to lose the game in the ninth inning, leaving Wainwright with his third consecutive no-decision. His ERA now sits at 4.14.

Wainwright threw 6.2 innings of four-run ball Wednesday, scattering 11 hits while walking just one and striking out four en-route to a no-decision against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright was on the hook for the loss with his four earned runs, but was bailed out by his teammates, who rallied for a pair of runs off Mets closer Jeurys Familia in the ninth to come back and win the game 5-4. Wainwright has been steady for the Cardinals after a brutal start to the season where he allowed at least three earned runs in each of his first eight starts. Since May 13th, Wainwright has gone at least six innings in 12 of 13 starts, lowering his ERA to 4.16. He's flashed his signature pinpoint command over that timeframe, walking just 19 hitters over all those innings.

Wainwright struck out eight without a walk while allowing two runs on seven hits over six innings Thursday against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
He actually left the game trailing thanks to the two-run rally the Padres pieced together in the fifth inning, but the Cardinals' offense bailed him out. This has been a tough year for Wainwright on the whole, but he's really turned the page in July, allowing only three runs over 29 innings (0.93 ERA) with a terrific 27:5 K:BB spanning four starts this month. Start him with confidence moving forward.

Wainwright (9-5) fired a three-hit shutout while walking two and striking out five to earn the win Saturday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
The Cardinals scored four runs in the third inning, and Wainwright shut down the Marlins on 120 pitches to pick up his ninth win of 2016. He's been on fire lately, as he's allowed just one earned run over his last 25 innings of work, and during that time he's won all three decisions and lowered his ERA to a season-low 4.15. He'll make his next start Thursday against the Padres.

Wainwright (8-5) allowed just one run on five hits Thursday against the Pirates. He walked one and struck out nine in the win.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright matched his season-high in strikeouts to help the Cardinals avoid a four-game sweep while ending the Pirates' season-best seven-game winning streak. He was a 20-game winner two years ago, but missed most of last season with a torn left Achilles. He is rediscovering his form now, lowering his ERA to 4.49.

Wainwright (7-5) pitched seven innings of seven-hit, shutout ball in Saturday's 3-0 victory over the Brewers. He gave up two walks and struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The former 20-game winner had pitched well for an extended stretch before a six-run hiccup against the Royals last Monday, but rebounded in stellar fashion Saturday. It was Wainwright's second shutout performance over the last four outings, and he's now lowered his ERA from 6.68 to 4.70 over the last two months. He'll look to continue the positive momentum versus the Pirates next Thursday.

Wainwright (6-5) gave up six runs (four earned) on nine hits and a walk with seven strikeouts over five innings in Monday's loss to the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright looked like he was finally entering his old form this month, with four quality starts in his four previous June outings. But this looked like more of the Wainwright who was touched up for a 5.71 ERA over the season's first two months. He was hurt by a pair of Cardinals errors, but his nine hits allowed marked his most in seven starts. He has allowed nine hits or more just five times since 2014, with three of those coming this year.

Wainwright (6-4) tossed 6.2 innings, giving up three runs on six hits while walking three and striking out four in Tuesday's win over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
It was a battle for Wainwright all night as he allowed the leadoff hitter to reach base in six of seven innings. Despite having to wiggle out of trouble by spending most of the night working from the stretch, he somehow managed to earn his sixth win of the year. After a brutal start to his 2016 campaign, Wainwright has settled in a bit as of late. In his last seven starts, the three-time All-Star is 4-1 and has lowered his ERA by more than two points, which now sits at its lowest point since Opening Day.

Wainwright shut the Astros out over seven innings Wednesday, scattering three walks and four hits while striking ot six, but didn't earn a decision.
EDGE Analysis
The bullpen ended up blowing this one, but that's taking nothing away from Wainwright, who's on an excellent three-start streak to open June after struggling through the season's first two months. Over a span of 20 innings, he's allowed just four runs on 11 hits with a 21:4 K:BB -- in other words, he's finally been the Wainwright we thought we were paying for on draft day.
