Kassian was recalled from AHL Bakersfield on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The big winger spent only four games in the AHL, scoring one goal, since being acquired in a trade with Montreal on Dec. 28. His recall comes much sooner than most expected, and it will be interesting to see how Kassian fits in to the Oilers' lineup. Kassian has the size and toughness to fill a bottom-six role, but also possesses enough offensive ability to play on one of Edmonton's top-two lines. Stay posted to see where head coach Todd McLellan slots Kassian in to the lineup.

The Canadiens traded Kassian to the Oilers on Monday in exchange for goalie Ben Scrivens.
EDGE Analysis
Kassian refused to report to the Canadiens' AHL team, so the team was forced to move him. Kassian has had a trying season, and the Oilers will try to see if they can get him back on track. He will begin his Oilers stint with the club's AHL team, assuming he does not refuse that assignment as well.

Kassian will not report to AHL St. John's at the Canadiens' request, John Lu of TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
With this development, it seems as though the Canadiens will look to move Kassian once the NHL roster freeze ends at 12:01 AM on Dec. 28. Kassian was acquired this offseason, and is yet to suit up for the Habs after spending time in the NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program. If he is to be traded, the Canadiens will need to find a team willing to take a flyer on Kassian's off-ice problems.

Kassian was reassigned to AHL St. John's on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Kassian will now have a chance to find his game in the minors after being suspended indefinitely prior to the 2015-16 season. Though he has continually disappointed since making it to the NHL, Kassian is a physical, big-bodied winger with good hands. During the 2013-14 campaign, while playing on a line with the Sedin twins in Vancouver, Kassian showed flashes what he was capable of, but was never able to find any sort of consistency. Despite his struggles, the 24-year old has just completed the NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program and has plenty of time to turn his career around.

Kassian was reinstated by the NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program, and then waived by the Canadiens on Monday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kassian's reinstatement is obviously a big step in the right direction for the troubled forward, as it's a sign that the former first-round pick likely got the help he needed during his time away from hockey. His placement on waivers, however, could indicate that the Canadiens are simply hoping to move on from 24-year-old winger. It wouldn't be shocking if another NHL club claimed Kassian. Alternatively, if he clears waivers, he'll likely either head to the AHL in order to get back into playing shape, or have his contract terminated by the Habs. Kassian's future in the NHL is difficult to predict at this juncture.

Kassian was suspended without pay by the Canadiens Monday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kassian, whose maturity level has been questioned throughout his NHL career, will now enter Stage Two of the NHL-NHLPA joint Behavioral Modification program. Kassian will not be able to return to team activities until doctors have decided he is healthy and rehabilitated enough to do so. It's an unfortunate turn of events for the troubled 24-year-old winger, but on the bright side, Kassian should finally get the help he needs in the NHL-NHLPA's joint Behavioral Modification program.

Kassian fractured his nose and left foot in the car accident he was involved in early Sunday morning, Arpon Basu of LNH.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Initial reports indicated Kassian had only suffered "minor injuries", but Monday's announcement completely contradicts those statements. Kassian has struggled with maturity throughout his professional career, and Sunday's incident once again calls it into question. General manager Marc Bergevin told reporters Monday that Kassian "lacks character and judgement", so he seems to have firmly been placed in the club's dog house. The team may decide to suspend Kassian or place him on IR, but for now, the 24 year old's absence opens the door for Devante Pelly-Smith or Jacob De La Rose to secure a spot on the team's opening night roster.

Kassian was absent from practice Monday after being involved in an automobile accident early Sunday morning, Arpon Basu of LNH.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kassian is reportedly no longer in the hospital after Sunday morning's incident, and is apparently only dealing with "minor injuries". The 24 year old's status with the Canadiens, however, is now up in the air, as his maturity level has been a question mark throughout much of his professional career, and Sunday's incident is yet another indication of Kassian's struggles to stay out of trouble. If the team decides to waive him, Devante Pelly-Smith or Jacob De La Rose will likely fill his spot on Montreal's Opening Night roster.

Kassian was involved in an automobile accident early Sunday morning, the Montreal Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Canadiens are saying Kassian, who was a passenger in the vehicle, suffered "minor injuries" and a witness said Kassian appeared dazed and bloodied. Physical injuries aside, the incident calls into question Kassian's maturity level, questions he dragged along with him from Vancouver. He had been penciled in for fourth-line duty along with Torrey Mitchell and Brian Flynn, but his status may change. That would open up a roster spot for Devante Pelly-Smith or Jacob De La Rose.

Kassian is expected to be Montreal's enforcer, a role filled by Brandon Prust the last few years, Hockey Inside Out reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's ironic that Kassian was acquired from Vancouver for Prust, but is a younger and cheaper version. Kassian has been skating primarily on the fourth line and is third on the team with 13 minutes in penalties in four preseason games.
