Fasth stopped all 24 shots he faced in the first three periods before Nashville's Filip Forsberg beat him for the winning goal in overtime Thursday night.
Fasth did an incredible job of holding serve with Pekka Rinne and the overwhelmingly-favored Predators for most of the night, but the game ended with the Oilers taking their eighth straight loss. If there's any silver lining for Fasth, it's that the sterling outing probably gives him the upper hand on the starting job for the Oilers at the moment. He hasn't been great in his last handful of starts, but the team's porous defense and tendencies to disappear offensively have been the more pressing problems during Edmonton's losing streak.

Fasth will be between the pipes Thursday against the Predators, Jack Michaels of the Oilers Radio Network reports.
Fasth has only marginally outperformed Ben Scrivens of late, but it will be enough for him to earn his third start in four games. He's still been an underachiever by and large this season, carrying a 2-5-1 record, 3.32 GAA and .893 save percentage. He'll have little chance at upsetting the Predators and Vezina Trophy candidate Pekka Rinne at their own arena.

Fasth allowed three goals on 34 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to Dallas.
A pair of Tyler Seguin goals in the second period ended up giving the Stars enough cushion to beat Edmonton, and Fasth can hardly be faulted for being Seguin's latest victim. Nonetheless, he's now taken losses in three straight starts and six out of eight on the season.

Fasth will start Tuesday against the Stars.
Fasth will start for the second time in three games in place of regular goaltender Ben Scrivens. He will take on a Dallas squad that lit the lamp 12 times over its last three games.

Fasth stopped 15 of 17 shots in relief duty Saturday against the Blackhawks.
Starter Ben Scrivens was pulled after giving up five goals on 13 shots, so Fasth was thrown in to try and fend off the dominant Blackhawks. While it was Scrivens who was credited with the loss, Fasth is still winless in his last two starts and has posted a lackluster .890 save percentage and 3.337 GAA on the season. It's best just to stay away from Fasth right now, as the Oilers have lost seven straight and Fasth has done nothing to show he should start ahead of Scrivens.

Contrary to an earlier report, Fasth will not start Saturday against the Blackhawks.
The roster sheet distributed prior to the game incorrectly identified Fasth as the starter, leading to the confusion. It will in fact be Ben Scrivens, as the Oilers announced earlier in the day.

In a last-minute change, the Oilers will start Fasth at goalie Saturday against the Blackhawks, the Chicago Sun-Times' Mark Lazerus reports.
Earlier in the day, the Oilers said Ben Scrivens would start, but instead both Edmonton and Chicago made surprise goalie changes right before puck dropped. Evidently the Oilers have seen enough of Scrivens during his seven-game losing streak and opted to give Fasth another shot.

Fasth gave up two goals on 24 shots in a 2-0 loss to the visiting Devils on Friday.
Although Fasth wasn't able to grab a W in relief of struggling Oilers starter Ben Scrivens, it wasn't his fault as Edmonton's offense was held off the scoresheet for the second time this season. Scrivens is currently mired in a seven-game losing streak, so there's a good chance Fasth will see his playing time increase -- with an opportunity to grab the starter's reins -- if Scrivens continues to struggle.

Fasth will be between the pipes Friday against the Devils.
It's the first home start of the season for Fasth, who continues to remain in the picture for regular goaltending duties. Ben Scrivens is probably coach Dallas Eakins' No. 1 option for now, but that could easily change if Fasth enjoys a run of solid outings in the near future.

Fasth was pulled from Tuesday's loss against Nashville after allowing three goals on 17 shots in the first period.
Ben Scrivens came in and stopped all 18 shots over the final two periods. Fasth looked like he was gaining ground on Scrivens over the last two games, but he may have at least partly undone that progress on Tuesday.
