Rask snapped a five-game pointless drought by potting Carolina's lone goal in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Canadiens.
With just five goals and 10 points to show for 30 games this season, Rask holds minimal fantasy value. Even those in keeper formats can't be overly excited about Rask, given his modest 39 points in 76 AHL games last season.

Rask set up both Carolina goals Saturday in a 3-2 loss to Pittsburgh.
That means he has three assists in his last two games. It isn't enough for us to recommend him just yet, but it sure has put him on our radar. He should be on yours, too.

Rask will center the top line between Eric Staal and Jiri Tlusty during Thursday's game against Winnipeg, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Coach Bill Peters experimented with the combination during Monday's win over Calgary and again at practice Wednesday, and will apparently stick with it against the Jets. Following a strong training camp and preseason, Rask only has four points in 14 games to date, however three of those points have come in the last three games. Now, with the recent move to the top line, he will be seeing prime ice time so the opportunites to add to his scoring totals will follow. Keep an eye on him and don't be afraid to pluck him off your waiver wire in anticipation of a points surge.

Rask scored his second goal of the season and assisted on Elias Lindholm's overtime-winner Friday against Columbus.
Currently centering the fourth line, the 21-year-old has only managed three points (two goals) in 12 games on the season. Although those two goals came in his last three games, Rask won't produce much if he continues to be used in a bottom-six role.

Rask registered a goal and three shots in 13:44 worth of ice time in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Kings.
The goal marked the 21-year-old's first career point, as he saw an over four minute increase of ice time from his last game. He impressed in the preseason, but given his struggles out of the gate and the lack of production by the team in general, Rask doesn't hold a lot of fantasy value.

Rask is still looking for his first point of the season, currently centering the Canes' top line in between Jiri Trusty and Alexander Semin.
After an impressive training camp and preseason, Rask has struggled out of the gate, with only a minus-5 rating, 12 shots on goal and two PIM through seven games. However, he is probably playing a little high up in the batting order than he should be, given the injuries to the team's top two centers, Eric and Jordan Staal. Overall, fantasy owners should not expect too much of an impact this season, given his own struggles as well as the current state of the team.

GM Ron Francis said he expects Rask to win a roster spot following a strong training camp, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Rask was especially impressive during Wednesday's preseason loss to Columbus, registering two goals and an assist while skating on a line with Nathan Gerbe and Zach Boychuk. With the Canes' regular No. 2 center Jordan Staal expected to miss 3-4 months with a broken leg, there is now an opportunity for a guy like Rask to step in and fill the void. In fact, Rask was even practicing as the second-line center with Jeff Skinner and Elias Lindholm on Thursday, so the situation certainly bears monitoring. Rask is currently a great candidate for a late-round sleeper pick in most fantasy formats.

With Jordan Staal (leg) out indefinitely, Rask's chances of cracking the Hurricanes' opening night roster could get a boost, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
After shining for the Hurricanes during the recent prospects tournament in Traverse City, Mich., Rask has carried over those successes to training camp, making a strong impression on new coach Bill Peters and his staff. The 21-year-old is coming off a quality first professional season for AHL Charlotte, with whom he tallied 16 goals and 23 assists over 76 games. It would still be wise to temper expectations for Rask if he manages to earn a roster spot, since he likely wouldn't be in line for a huge allotment of minutes in his first taste of NHL action.

Rask has been invited to the Hurricanes' training camp after impressing the coaching staff at the annual Traverse City prospects tournament, the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
The 21-year-old Rask will now compete for a roster spot after finishing the tournament with eight points in four games. "[Rask] played well all four games," GM Ron Francis said. "He has very good hockey sense and was good at both ends of the rink, and on special teams. He was consistent, every shift, every game." Bottom line, Rask will face some stiff competition in his attempt to crack the Canes' roster. It will be interesting to see how he fares in camp against seasoned NHL veterans. Monitor closely.
