Travis Zajac (Achilles tendon) will travel with the team to Tampa Bay so that he can continue participating in their practices. Zajac also took part in Friday's practice. Barring a setback, he should return before Christmas.

Travis Zajac (Achilles tendon) was excited to be back at practice with his New Jersey teammates on Wednesday. The rough estimate for his return is sometime before Dec. 25, but that isn't a guarantee. "That's the timetable we're on right now to, hopefully, get a game in before Christmas, but who knows?" Zajac said. "Right now, it's just getting back in shape and getting my timing and moving with the puck and thinking, and when that comes I'm sure it will be sooner than later." Stay tuned.

Travis Zajac (Achilles tendon) will probably return before Christmas, according to Devils coach Pete DeBoer. Zajac hasn't played all season, but he has been skating recently. Rookie center Adam Henrique has emerged as a valuable piece of the Devils' lineup in Zajac's absence, but Zajac should still be counted on to center one of the Devils' top two lines when he's healthy. Stay tuned.

Travis Zajac (Achilles tendon) didn't travel with the team to Winnipeg for Saturday's game. Zajac will instead continue to skate in New Jersey. Although him playing in Winnipeg hasn't looked like a realistic goal for some time now, it still must be difficult for Zajac, who was born in Winnipeg. "I definitely feel for him. He was excited once he saw the Jets were coming back," teammate Zach Parise said. "Right away he was talking about being able to go back there and play. So I definitely feel for him not having that opportunity." The silver lining is Zajac might be healthy in time for the Devils' next trip to Winnipeg on January 14th. We'll keep you posted.

Travis Zajac (Achilles tendon) skated with New Jersey's other scratches on Saturday. The hope is that he will able to start practicing with the team within two weeks. Zajac hasn't played this season after suffering a torn Achilles tendon during an off-ice summer workout. Stay tuned for updates.

Travis Zajac is back in New Jersey after doing most of his rehab from a torn Achilles tendon in Winnipeg. "He has been released by the doctors," GM Lou Lamoriello said Wednesday. "He is in town. He skated yesterday morning here and also this morning and will continue to do that for the next week and a half to two weeks and, if everything is on schedule as it has been, he'll start practicing with the team in two weeks." We'll keep you posted on his progress.

Travis Zajac is progressing in Winnipeg in his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon. "He's progressing, he's skating and it's just going to be a matter of time when the doctors release him and until he's released 100 percent we want him to be doing his therapy and his skating under the supervision of the people who did the operation and the physical therapists who are rehabbing him," said GM Lou Lamoriello. Stay tuned for updates.

Coach Pete DeBoer said that his last report on Travis Zajac (Achilles tendon) was that the New Jersey center had ramped up his skating. The Devils bench boss said that Zajac "was starting to skate more regularly and all the news was good." He also mentioned earlier this month that he expects Zajac back prior to Christmas, but there is no set timetable for his return after tearing his Achilles tendon.

New Jersey coach Pete DeBoer is unsure when Travis Zajac will be ready to return from a torn left Achilles' tendon, but said that he should be back before Christmas. "It's a moving target, an Achilles' injury, but there's light at the end of the tunnel," DeBoer said. "I think he's going to be back here some time before Christmas. Could be in three or four weeks. Could be in five or six. But it's on the horizon here at least now." Zajac resumed skating last week and is rehabbing in Winnipeg. Stay tuned for updates on his recovery.

Travis Zajac skated for 30 minutes on Thursday for the first time since he tore his left Achilles tendon. Zajac isn't ready to put a timetable on his return. "I think right now the plan is to go back to Winnipeg and finish with rehab and start skating a little more and taking it on a week-by-week, day-by-day basis until I'm closer to being ready to skate with the team," he said. We'll keep you posted.
