Tatar (shoulder) received a qualifying offer from the Red Wings on Monday, MLive.com reports.

The sniper needs just one more goal to reach 100 after 345 career contests, and his logging a career-high in ice time (17:17) this past season -- nearly three full minutes more than the 2015-17 campaign -- shows that he has top-six upside. Don't expect to see Tatar in shorthanded situations, but he's a perennial power-play contributor. Not much has been made of the Czech winger's shoulder injury other than the news from April that he should be good to go for training camp this fall.

Tatar, who's recovering from shoulder surgery, won't be available to the Golden Knights in the expansion draft, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.

EDGE Analysis

Hot sauce is one of the Red Wings' most prolific scorers, as he led the club with 25 goals this past season. Throwing away that production would be detrimental to a franchise that prides itself on having an offensively laden top six. Re-signing Tatar, a pending restricted free agent, should be a top priority for GM Ken Holland this summer, and one can expect the Slovak to get a substantial raise over the $2.75 average annual value he had earned over the life of a three-year deal.

Tatar will undergo shoulder surgery with the expectation that he'll be ready for training camp this fall, Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News reports.

Tatar only missed one game during the regular season, and it wasn't obvious that his shoulder was bothering him near the end of the campaign; he generated two goals, two assists while skating to a plus-2 rating in the final five games as a pleasant contrast to numerous cold spells earlier in the year. This ailment isn't likely to have much of an impact on Tatar's fantasy stock heading into the 2017-18 campaign.

Tatar secured his 25th goal of the season in Sunday's finale against the Devils, ultimately bidding adieu to Joe Louis Arena, which had been home to the Red Wings since 1979.

EDGE Analysis

Tatar led the Red Wings in scoring, potting seven more than the next-highest producer, Andreas Athanasiou. Detroit got minimal offensive production from its blue line outside of Mike Green (36 points), and that led to more reliance on guys like Tatar. The Red Wings finally missed the playoffs after a quarter century of extending campaigns, and now the Slovakian enters the offseason as a restricted free agent.

Tatar recorded a power-play goal in Monday's 5-4 shootout win over the Senators.

EDGE Analysis

Tatar has accounted for roughly 10 percent of his team's goals this season, which is far and away the best rate. Unfortunately, he's short by two goals and seven assists compared to last season's totals with the man advantage. Interestingly enough, the crafty Slovakian stayed in Detroit despite rumors that he'd be shipped off at the trade deadline. He'll be a restricted free agent this summer.

Tatar tied the game Sunday against the Wild by beating Devan Dubnyk on the short side.

EDGE Analysis

Detroit is out of the playoff picture, but the 26-year-old forward isn't showing it. Tatar now has seven goals and three assists over the past nine games, raising his season total to 40 points. His inconsistency is a reason to be wary, though, as over these nine game he was held without a point in four of them. Tatar is still a valid option at wing when the matchup is favorable.

Tatar posted a pair of goals and an assist in a 5-1 victory over the Avalanche on Saturday.

EDGE Analysis

The 26-year-old is heating up, as he has five goals and eight points in his last five games. Tatar is now one score shy of reaching the 20-goal mark for the third straight season. He's pretty much on pace with his shot and shooting percentage career totals too. All in all, Tatar has provided fantasy with pretty much what they expected, but he does carry a disappointing minus-9 rating this season. He was a plus-24 player coming into 2016-17.

Tatar found twine on the power play to complement an even-strength assist Thursday, contributing to a 5-4 shootout win over the Coyotes.

EDGE Analysis

For the goal, Coyotes goalie Mike Smith was the victim of Tatar's quick release. The tender was sprawling after making a save on defenseman Mike Green's shot, only to look up and see that Tatar had lifted the puck top shelf from the slot. He's incredibly streaky, but often worth the risk in tournament settings due to his ability to catch fire on short notice.

Tatar scored two goals and added an assist during Friday's win over Chicago.

EDGE Analysis

It was the first multi-point effort in 14 games for Tatar, as the 26-year-old winger continues to underwhelm outside of his infrequent offensive outbursts. With just 17 goals and 33 points through 66 games, Tatar is in line to see his point total drop for a second consecutive season. He's best left to deep seasonal leagues at this point, but it also isn't out of the question that Tatar finishes off the season strongly.

Tatar dished out a secondary assist in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Maple Leafs.

EDGE Analysis

Tatar seems to be a beneficiary of Thomas Vanek moving to the Panthers at last week's deadline. He's picked up a goal and an assist in three games since that transpired, averaging just over 18 minutes per contest; his output on the year is 16:49. Tatar himself was subjected to rampant trade speculation, but even though he remains in Detroit, he'll have a chance to renegotiate his contract as a restricted free agent this summer. The 26-year-old is cashing in the balance of a three-year, $8.25 million deal.
