Tim Thomas broke his media silence after Florida's 3-2 loss to Boston. He didn't want to be interviewed until Thursday night's game against his former team was over. "It certainly was different playing against guys who you played with for so long," Thomas said. "I tried treating it as another game. But having said that, it was a big game for me coming back after awhile and playing guys ... There's was a big to-do about it. I was a little nervous today, but not too bad." Thomas made 37 stops in the contest and almost stole a win for the Panthers, but Reilly Smith scored in the final minute of the third to give the Bruins the victory. Tim Thomas allowed three goals on 40 shots Thursday night as the Panthers dropped a 3-2 decision to Boston. Thomas did his best to keep his team in the game and came very close to earning a point, if not two. In four starts this year he possesses a 1-3-0 record with a 4.31 GAA and an .880 save percentage.

Although head coach Kevin Dineen wasn't responsible for confirming via the Panthers' Twitter that Tim Thomas would start against Boston, he doesn't mind that it happened. Dineen had been hesitant to confirm that Thomas would start and initially listed him as questionable to return from his groin injury. "That was the first time someone else announced who would start and you know what? I'm excited," Dineen said. "Our fanbase, to see Tim, I think there's a great buzz coming out of New England as he faces his former team. There's no problems with me there." He added that Thomas is 100% and they wouldn't be putting him in otherwise.

Tim Thomas will be in Florida's crease Thursday night versus Boston, according to the team's Twitter account. Coach Kevin Dineen wouldn't name his starting goalie Wednesday and he listed Thomas, who has been out with a groin injury, as questionable to play. However, that didn't stop the Panthers from announcing: "Tim Thomas will play against his previous club the @NHLBruins tomorrow at @thebbtcenter." The former Bruins goaltender said he won't talk to the media until after the contest, but he has practiced for a couple of days and appears ready to play. Look for him to get the nod.

Tim Thomas (groin) practiced again Wednesday, but coach Pete DeBoer labeled him as questionable to play against Boston on Thursday night. He's practiced without limitations for the past two days, which has led to speculation that he could start against his former Bruins teammates. Thomas declined to speak to reporters after practice. Thursday's morning skate will probably determine his status and if he feels good then he's likely to get the nod.

Tim Thomas (groin) is doubtful to play in Florida's home opener Friday night. However, if Thomas informs coach Kevin Dineen that he's ready to play in the morning then he could end up starting in front of the Panthers' home crowd. Thomas tested his pulled groin Thursday and faced shots from goalie coach Robb Tallas.

Tim Thomas' groin injury isn't expected to keep him out of the lineup for long. That being said, Thomas has been dealing with groin problems since 2006-07, so this might come up again. Thomas has a horrible 5.05 GAA and .850 save percentage in three games. The sample size is still small, but his comeback certainly isn't going well so far.

Tim Thomas sustained a "slightly pulled groin" Tuesday night, according to coach Kevin Dineen. He was injured while trying to stop Philadelphia's second goal of the contest, but the good news is that he didn't appear to have a limp when he left the arena. Scott Clemmensen is expected to be recalled from the minors, so consider Thomas day-to-day for now.

Tim Thomas left Tuesday night's game against Philadelphia 7:31 into the first period after allowing two goals on five shots. Thomas went straight to the dressing room and has not returned to the bench. The team has not announced anything yet, but it appears the 39 year-old may have sustained an injury trying to stop the Flyers' last goal.
