Thomas made his third consecutive start and allowed four goals on only 17 shots before Cristopher Nilstorp was called upon to replace Thomas 29 seconds into the second period. Nilstorp finished with 14 saves in his season debut. The seven goals allowed tied a season high for the Stars. Thomas' GAA bloated up to 2.90. His save percentage deteriorated to .908.

Tim Thomas made 27 saves but allowed two goals in the shootout to fall to 2-0-1 in a Stars uniform after Friday night's shootout loss to Calgary. Thomas is 18-20-4 this season with a .910 save percentage and 2.83 goals against average. He's allowed five goals in 66 shots against since his trade from Florida earlier this month. The veteran allowed two third period goals to let Calgary tie the game and enable them to win in a shootout.

Tim Thomas will start for Dallas on Friday. Thomas has a 2.83 GAA and .910 save percentage in 42 games this season. He has been serving as the team's starter while Kari Lehtonen recovers from a concussion.

Thomas improves to 2-0 in his stint with the Stars, as he posted a shutout in his first start on Saturday. Thomas is 18-20-3 this season with a .910 save percentage and 2.83 goals against average.

Tim Thomas will get an opportunity to serve as Dallas' starting goaltender while Kari Lehtonen is sidelined by a head injury. Lehtonen is listed as day-to-day and Cristopher Nilstorp is up with the Stars as the team's backup. Thomas may get the nod for Dallas on Monday against Columbus and in St. Louis on Tuesday with the team battling to maintain its wild card playoff spot.

Tim Thomas emerged with the win for the Stars after replacing Kari Lehtonen on Saturday night. Lehtonen left in the third period after being run over. In 13:23, Thomas made six saves, a few big ones, to keep Dallas in it and allow it to come out on top. The reason you make a trade for someone like Thomas is for spur-of-the-moment reasons like this. Thomas can obviously also handle being a starter if Lehtonen is sidelined.

In an ironic twist, Sunday night is Tim Thomas Bobblehead night in Florida. Thomas was traded to Dallas in a deadline deal Thursday but the Panthers intend to give out Thomas bobbleheads to the first 7500 fans to attend Sunday's contest agsainst one of Thomas other former teams, the Bruins. Isn't hockey an interesting sport?

The Stars want Tim Thomas to give Kari Lehtonen some games off down the stretch and possibly challenge him for starts. "We had the opportunity to pick up a goalie who has won a Stanley Cup and has strong playoff experience," GM Jim Nill said. "Our team is serious about making the playoffs and making a statement in the playoffs, and this solidifies maybe the most important position on the team." Lehtonen has two games of postseason experience in his career, so Thomas could be an option for Dallas if they can secure a wild card spot. However, as far as the rest of the season goes, it's hard to see Thomas taking Lehtonen's job.
